Q: What is the new craze for microbreweries?

Why is everyone constantly wanting to go for a drink at a microbrewery? I feel like this is a new thing but maybe it is because I've been living in Kunming for too long. I move to Beijing and its all everyone talks about. Are they actually any good? can you tell the difference between batches?

What do we think the next craze will be? 'deconstructed cocktails'?

Probably because nearly all Chinese beers are...well...crap! So home brewing and microbreweries  is always going to be an improvement. The home brewed stuff I have had here is pretty good but I am using Chinese beer as a comparison.

Try a couple - see what you think.

Well - apart from the fact that Beijing (and most "international" cities) is obsessed with the latest fads and fashions - the local mass produced beers are crappy, as they use a chemical process to artificially speed up the fermentation, and imported beers get boring.

I'd put the craze due 80% to following the latest fad (since it's Beijing) and 20% due to the microbreweries actually producing a superior quality beer. Actually this trend of microbreweries goes on internationally; I read that Germans are now purchasing larger and larger amounts of American microbrewery beer every year, and favoring it over their own beer.

A: "... through ..."?  Only "through" comes to mind is "Shenzhen agent can connect you with an employer, who's authorized to hire waigouren ... and can sponsor Z visa." It's not like every 10th person you meet in Shenzhen's hood can sponsor work visa ...  The only way to change from student to labourer visa is just a regular way by: 1. Finding an employer, who'll apply for an Invitation letter; 2. Exit China and apply for Z visa in your home country's Chinese embassy; 3. Enter China in 30-days after Z visa was stamped into your travelling instrument ...As I am aware, you won't be able to switch to Working permit by remaining in China....,so make ready for a return to your home .... -- icnif77
