I live in Beijing, so it could be different from other parts of China, but I'm surprised as hell that Beijing folks pick up their dogs' feces after said dogs expel said feces on the street/sidewalk. Children can expel excrement on the streets and nobody seems to care, but leaving dog BM is unacceptable it seems.
What have you seen Chinese people do that is 文明, but you never expected to see?
PS: expel is a cool word.
Clearly your post is inaccurate. To think that all people in any Chinese city will pick up dog crap is just silly. Even you should know better than that.
However your grammar is ok but stop using the words "said" and "expel" so often.

Clearly you didn't catch my attempt at humor. And did you really think I meant everybody picks up after their dog? Seriously, too many people on here like to respond to questions only to pick them apart rather than answer.

i went to pet a big dog loose on the walking streets, dog took a dump, I thought about watching for who stepped in it and the reaction, if any. didn't
Can form orderly queues at bakeries, but not train stations.
I've seen individual instances of 文明 behavior, but as far as something they ALL do ALL the time? Still waiting...
If you were learning Chinese through pure immersion, never using a textbook or a dictionary or a teacher, would you think that wenming means civilized and hexie means harmonious? I mean, with all those signs everywhere talking about civilized cities and harmonious society I would assume the two words mean the exact opposite of what they're supposed to.
Which makes me wonder how exactly Chinese children figure out Chinese.
In my city when someone gets on a bus with a laoren card they are 99% of the time given a seat.
I've not seen this. What I have seen is people kick crap (dog or child) into bushes, or just leave it there for others to walk on.
It surprises me that people clearly try to cut people in line here. I mean even if your standing at the counter they might stand beside you and try to hand the ticket guy the money it's so ridiculous!!
