Q: What qualifies as a good China day to you? (opposite of bad China day)

We seem to spend a lot of time talking about "bad China days" and "TIC" syndrome. So what qualifies as a good China day and how often would you say you have them?

Almost every day is a Good China Day for me. I suppose if my e-bike had a flat tire that might be a Bad China Day. I just don't identify with this "Bad China Day" meme. I simply don't get it.

Coming to my classroom and being greeted with smiles from my students.

The laugh of the Laoban when greeted at whose shop I frequent.

Seeing people give up their seats for the elderly.

Seeing adults truly playing with their children.

Getting text messages about the changes in the weather from students, and colleagues whenever the temperature goes up or down.

The laoban of the beer story I gave when talking about "best customer service".

For me, like Bill above, I would say that almost every day is a "good China day"!

Today was a good China day because I got four new students, my X-Box fixed and now i'm gonna play Max Payne 3. Also got a shot of brandy, a half bottle of beer and a couple of cigarettes left. A good China day indeed.

My kid's just started crying and my wife has to feed him and get him back off to sleep. Maybe now is not the time to ask her is she's having a good China day, but then again she's Chinese, so f**k her, who cares? Down thumb, down thumb, red thumb, yawn.

Are your 4 new students not Chinese too?

Please tell me you're not another one of these idiots who thinks i'm Chinese, please. I mean, there surely can't be that many absurdly stupid people all sharing the same forum, it's impossible. Tell me i'm mistaken and i'll apologize but I don't see what you're getting at otherwise. No, my students are Chinese. I'm an English teacher in China. All my students are Chinese.

Wake up, put on some shorts and flippers, go buy some you tiao, cigarettes, and cola, and then play some DotA.

And in the afternoon, slowly ride my bike to my circle's usual meeting place during summer: The internet cafe. Where we play some more video games.

Or alternatively, any day I did a concert. Or band practice with beers during summer.

Now that I think back, any of Beijing's summer days is a delight.

I guess all those days spent playing WoW with my girlfriend were the only good times during winter. I would go out to buy stuff in the harsh cold, she would cook something awesome, we would lay down and waste our time in a virtual world....

God damnit, nostalgia.

Just got back from a wedding party, my two year old  daughter was feted by everyone, children, adults, men, women, they all wanted to pick her up and carry her around, (one 'relation' / woman even went so far as to carry her outside, until I intervened), but it really was a totally Ke'ai fest. An old man came up and picked her up, I was 'very' stressed but he was totally genuine, he just wanted to hold her.

After about an hour of getting seriously stressed over this, I realised, that (in this party at least) the people were warm, loving, kind and genuine.

It sort of restored my faith in humanity, ...........................although I assure you not one human at ANY time took my daughter out of my direct sight! (I don't have THAT much faith......yet)

Nessquick:

yep, same happen to me, and i am also always stressed of it. worried about the kidnapping here, ouu. no one can take my son out of my sight. Right. :-)

This should be a post, I never read much on the subject, so unsure of others experiences. I met were mostly working girls from beauty shops, massage parlours, escorts, KTV. Before I came to China I had this idea of shy, conservative traditional women. I know some women do it rarely for money. After being in China awhile I was starting to think most of the women were working at some time.

Ted, your comment above "After being in China awhile I was starting to think most of the women were working at some time"

I could make some joke about your mum being from China or that free hookers did it for your dad, ask your mum, but I wouldn't want to stoop as low as you guys. I''ll just say this:

Wow, some of you guys really dispise Chinese people, what have they ever done to you?

I did not think badly of the women. I treated them nicely. Some were very nice and had hard luck stories. I was friends with some of them. Others weren't worth my time. Some cheated me, I took a chance and lent 1000 to one, never saw her again. Where do I say I despise the women? I was just amazed at how I found things to be. I really liked some of them. Why do you think they saw me for free? .....Because I was really nice to them!

1. Pay day's usually qualify

2. The days leading up my flights outta here usually qualify as well....always rife with anticipation

3. But on the flip side, the days leading up to my flights BACK to China aren't so bad either.  But I'm not in China then....so doesn't count as a good China day

It usually involved a good two-hour F*ck session, but that really could be anywhere. So, I'd have to go with a good clear, crisp autumn day playing something or some kind of outing without incident that ends up in the pub.

I think you're taking it a bit far. It isn't that we "stick together" it's just that we happen to all think you're a dink.

So, maybe some soul searching from you is required and you'd discover, YOU are the problem.

Just a simple retort for you and MissA's little jibes yesterday, no offence meant, thedud should learn to keep out of things that arent his business, and you should learn not to fire barbs if you can't take it back!!!

In all seriousness nevermind, I am new to this website and immediately noticed what was going on......Loke, Martian etc.are spot on, but that said, its probably just a cultural difference between North-Americans and Brits. No-one on here can change that.

Want a hanky?

And there's no cultural difference here. Canadians and Brits are more similar than Canadians and Yanks, it just whenever we start giving it back you guys get all prissy and start accusing us of being sensitive. Stop being pussies.

A: "... through ..."?  Only "through" comes to mind is "Shenzhen agent can connect you with an employer, who's authorized to hire waigouren ... and can sponsor Z visa." It's not like every 10th person you meet in Shenzhen's hood can sponsor work visa ...  The only way to change from student to labourer visa is just a regular way by: 1. Finding an employer, who'll apply for an Invitation letter; 2. Exit China and apply for Z visa in your home country's Chinese embassy; 3. Enter China in 30-days after Z visa was stamped into your travelling instrument ...As I am aware, you won't be able to switch to Working permit by remaining in China....,so make ready for a return to your home .... -- icnif77
