How much are you looking to take back? I have no idea how it works but if you take anything in a large quantity, something that obviously isn't normal souvenirs or tourist shopping stuff then you might get hit for import taxes or customs duty or something.

You should see the incredible jade trade that goes on in Xinjiang!  It's very big business indeed.

But they're just stones...Hahahahaha...

Things you can buy in China are sub-standard for the US market or is already on the US market. If you think, "hey, that is a nifty little gadget"  it will break under normal use leaving you are your buyer with a support problem

lol. A friend had to make a business trip to the UK recently. His Chinese wife asked him to buy lots of stuff for her in the UK..... Chinese tea !!!!!!

To the OP, take Chinese postage stamps. There is a good market for them in the west.

Its almost impossible to make money. Any no name brand you bring can be considered a copy and therefore illegal to import. Most name brand things are already cheaper in the states. Anything you bring be ready for heavy duties unless you smuggle.

Anything cheap that you can bring in would probably be for the chinese population there but they have that covered. You can make money but need whole containers. Things like furniture can be made way cheaper here. But then your investing alot.

If your talking really small and just want to bring some things and sell. Copy bags. Thoigh they are targeted. Small gadgets. People will buy huawei smart phones if theu are cheap enough though margins for you are small.

Silver sells for a premium here, so no profit there. I doubt anyone in China would pay the premium for a small amount of silver from elsewhere, so why bother?

I'm not sure what jAde means, but if siLVer means certain bags, if you get caught ...at least federal prisons are nicer than state prisons.

You might make a few bucks on Levi's but I'm not sure it's worth the bother. I mean, AFAIK they're made here.

Phones and such - in my opinion the margins are not worth the trouble. And, like others said, if you have a suitcase full of phones/whatever you might miss your flight after shelling out some cash at the airport.

I know two people who export to the states. I doubt they would appreciate me describing their business so I won't. Let's suffice it to say they need not use codes like siLVer to describe their wares.

Like others said, anyone with a good idea probably won't splash it on an internet forum.

Find a niche and work it. It ain't easy, but you might find something worthwhile and if you do, well you're in clover.

Anyway if you're serious I do wish you good luck finding something.

Containers of women if I could figure out how, I'd do it. Enough to mow 4 acres by chewing. In winter I'd stack them against walls and floors for radiant heating. It's a very green solution. This is a job that no one wants here but still no visa category for.

Leatherman pocket tools, Coach handbags, belts made with real American cowhide, unlocked iphones.  All sell at a premium in China. Coach handbags have the highest profit margin.
