As a Canadian, I find it pretty pathetic that the only salmon you can get here is Norwegian. British Columbia, where loads of delicious salmon reside, is a short 10-hour flight from China, yet you cannot get BC salmon here. I think it is a perfect example of typical Canadian ineptitude. Seriously, I love my country, but we SUCK at selling ourselves. There's little Canadian kiosks in Beijing selling Maple Syrup and stuff, but it's basically gift shop at the airport type stuff.
I think the entire globalization thing is lost on Canada. Our leaders view it from a "Holy crap, look at all these people we can sell raw resources to!" Type scenario. We should be selling our Ice Wine hard as well as our delicious beer, salmon, beef and clothes like the Cowichan Sweater, which I have seen copies of in Beijing, but you can bet they weren't imported.
Sucks!

I too am a BC boy......... and when I first got here, I reported back to my brothers and family how insignificant Canada is in the world and here in China in particular......yes we suck at SALES, and yes we have great resources and some pretty decent stuff at home, but sell nothing here......... wood, lumber, logs ..... coal ... oil..gas .... and sustainable methods should be more prominent her.......... and Cowichan sweaters!!!! and Okanagan Spring beer.....baseball, hockey and lacrosse....... they layed fibre optics, why not a pipeline.
I'm all for a global community and progress progress progress ....... get on with it!!!!!! we can and will learn from the messes we make doing it ............ get on with it!!!!!!!
nevermind:
I'm from BC too and I find it amazing about how much half-assery there is regarding these things. I honestly think we've just been spoiled. "Don't worry about it, we have resources" seems to be the prevailing attitude. We use our resources like an ATM.

I think there's a huge opportunity to sell Monster Trucks and accessories in China. It's all about image, right? How about "My tires are taller than you!"
Folks could park their Monster Trucks ON other cars in parking lots. How's that for one-upmanship? "Don't worry honey, I am sure we will find a place to park."
iPhone SchmiPhone. You can't run over a VW Santana with an iPhone, now can you? No, you cannot.
nevermind:
You're actually very correct. I saw a few trucks in BJ, but rarely. Great market for it.
BHGAL:
I was at the Guangzhou car show last year ......... saw one Ford Ranger/little pickup, being used for something.............. I think you are onto something .sell TRUCKS!!!!!!
nevermind:
I once saw a slightly souped up jeep with a BC license plate screwed to it.

Jeep (originally part of AMC) started here in 1983. Nice to see.
I just want to see a Silverado now and then. Is that too much to ask?
Or a Ram, or an F-150. A real F-150, not one of those fake POS.
