Q: what is your advice for chinese companies to become world trusted brands ?

my advice is to change their name : like 美的 is a good chinese name but its english name MIDEA; what does it mean ??
In India there's a famous telecom brand IDEA so most of the people consider MIDEA as a fake chinese brand like NOKLA,SONI,PANASONICA, ETC ..
my conclusion MIDEA should look for a good name first... and make products that are reliable and long lasting ,not just with good look..

I don't think the problem is necesarily the name of the company, but the fact that the quality and safety standards can't be trusted. Chinese brands have to stop fooling customers and provide the service and the product that they promise (the recent case of the DaVinci luxury furniture company is a classic example of how company's fool customers by selling sub-par products).

So many things are marred by corruption in China, and company's cutting corners to increase profit/reduce expenditure. Let's not even get into the whole food scandal debate....

To be honest, I think the problem is that there is a lack of supervision and regulatory force here in China. Company's can get away with selling crap for years and quite often local governments know about it but are paid off or are related to the people in question. In short, China really needs to clamp down on corruption first, and then start re-building a consumer market that can be trusted.

The reason is because most of the chinese believe that without the brand, they cannot sale their products and thats why they can present low quality with a famous and respected brand but my advice to most of my customers is that those brands they are copying started somewhere,so if they can start today using their or make out their own brand,i believe with time, they will be famous like others.Secondly, they don't want to pay tax to the Government or the owners of those brand which i believe the government maynot be aware of the companies and does not believe in chasing around poor retailers asking them where they got those goods.
Lets be advicing them that the earlier the better and a step 3000 miles starts from somewhere(one).Thanks.
