Q: What's the average tax for foreigners in China?

I looked at my paycheck, and they took a lot out. How much are they taking out of your paycheck?

There are 7 tax bands. If you want to check what tax you should be paying then use this tax calculator.

If you're paying too much in tax you can talk to your employer about making a larger percentage of your pay a "housing allowance". This is tax free, and cheaper for you and for them. Also, if you can open a bank account in HK and have them pay to that account, you won't pay any.
