Q: What's the fastest and cheapest way to get to Hong Kong?

I live in Shenzhen, in Yantian (far off in the port)

If you want to enjoy easy and relaxed trip, and you are not interested to save money at cost of time, just directly fly to Hong Kong from anywhere in the world.

However, if you want to get there with a budget trip from mainland China, to visit Hong Kong via Shenzhen is a cheaper choice. You can experience the KCR (Kowloon Canton Rail) and Hong Kong MTR (Massive Transit Rail).
The best way to travel from Shenzhen to Hong Kong is actually by MTR subway. Connecting the two cities directly.

Fastest way:

1) take a taxi to the boarder in Luohu.
2) When across the boarder, take train.

Cheapest way:

Walk to the boarder, jump into the river between HK and Shenzhen, and scream for help.  Before and after people rescued you, tell them you have fallen down from HK side.

Then with zero cost, you are already in HongKong.

There is a bus that goes directly from Shenzhen to Hong Kong inner city. It will drop you off close to the shopping areas and the subway line. You can take the subway line to anywhere in Hong Kong once you get there. It won't take too long and you'll get where you want to be in no time at all. laugh

A: "... through ..."?  Only "through" comes to mind is "Shenzhen agent can connect you with an employer, who's authorized to hire waigouren ... and can sponsor Z visa." It's not like every 10th person you meet in Shenzhen's hood can sponsor work visa ...  The only way to change student visa to labourer one is just a regular way by: 1. Finding an employer, who'll apply for an Invitation letter; 2. Exit China and apply for Z visa in your home country's Chinese embassy; 3. Enter China in 30-days after Z visa was stamped into your travelling instrument ...As I am aware, you won't be able to switch to Working permit by remaining in China....,so make ready for a return to your home .... -- icnif77
