Q: What's the most you've ever paid for a beer?

I paid somewhere around 38 rmb for a Corona a long time ago.

In China:   45kuai for a pint of  Guiness (or however u spell it). Didn't care for it though, ok,  flame away...  :-p

The Rest of the World:  20 damn dollars for a pitcher of Bud in Alaska.  Granted that was including a pretty big tip too.

I think I paid like 35 kuai for a bottle of beer. Can't remember exactly how much it was but it was between 30 to 40 kuai.

I came across an amazing sax player playing in a restaurant/bar in Shanghai so I went inside and found the cheapest beer on offer was 50 yuan. I couldn't believe it. Didn't buy one, I just stood outside in the street and listened.

1 Liter beer glass of real legit imported Bavarian Lager costs around 230 rmb at a bar I often visit on the mainland. It's the gooood stuff. Of course a regular bottle of beer varies from 25 to 50 rmb. But the good stuff costs.

diverdude1:

230rmb = 36.91usd.      1 liter = 2.11 pints (US)

so,  17.49usd per pint.   yep, I would say pretty pricey !   wink

MasqueX:

I also gawk at the price, but on occasion, and when my German friends all get together, we go there and splurge on the good stuff. I'm not really an avid-drinker, so the cost is ok from time-to-time. Were I either a social drinker or alcoholic, I think I wouldn't turn to this particular brew hehe..

I regularly pay 48 rmb for a pint of Heineken...in fact I just came home from said bar now.

It's all about the music and atmosphere.

90RMB. I ordered an American craft beer as a round for three, accidentally. It was hideously expensive, but totally worth it.

MissA:

Should specify - 90 quai a pop.

Was in Qingdao once and paid about 80 RMB for one of their local dark brews. Was a pitcher though. I didn't mind as I was on holiday and up for trying anything though when it comes to dark beer nothing beats anything from the Czech Republic in my opinion.

4 pounds sterling in London. I was borne in the UK and will never again set foot in London. I got ripped off left right and center there, by the Metropolitan police, the car rental at Gatwick, you name it I got it. I will go to France or Italy or to China. I spent a year in China and found it fascinating. It is so different from the west. I would like to see more of China. Franck3

That's cheap for London!

Craft beer pints in BJ (from Great Leap, Slow Boat) routinely cost between 30-60 RMB depending on ABV. I don't mind spending it from time to time (although I will occasionally freak out when I realize I've been spending 10 USD per drink here!@?). What I do mind is spending 30-40 RMB on a small (fake?) tsingtao in clubs, music venues etc here.

I'm not sure. I went to a store and bought some 52~56% crap (five bottles) for maybe thirty RMB. tasted like mouthwash, and really burned the heck out of my mouth and stuff. So i guess like six RMB?

I just felt a little warm inside, just a little, but couldn't get the smell off for a week. I'm never drinking again.

A: "... through ..."?  Only "through" comes to mind is "Shenzhen agent can connect you with an employer, who's authorized to hire waigouren ... and can sponsor Z visa." It's not like every 10th person you meet in Shenzhen's hood can sponsor work visa ...  The only way to change from student to labourer visa is just a regular way by: 1. Finding an employer, who'll apply for an Invitation letter; 2. Exit China and apply for Z visa in your home country's Chinese embassy; 3. Enter China in 30-days after Z visa was stamped into your travelling instrument ...As I am aware, you won't be able to switch to Working permit by remaining in China....,so make ready for a return to your home .... -- icnif77
