It's distasteful.
I don't care if you like, dislike, or even hate the States, but why is there so many comments and discussions that end up bashing the States.
Some of the comments are completely off topic to the original post. I am not saying I love the States, I am just pointing out that it doesn't make sense.
If you hate the States, then fine, go vent it on an 'I hate the US' site.
Jesus, I don't see why people don't get this, it's obvious. Old Lokethebloke, like myself, Hugh, and no doubt one or two others who choose not to speak up, find a number of the comments on this site which are aimed at the Chinese to be distasteful. My personal approach to this has been to simply say, "Bla, bla, I think that's an unfair generalization" or "Bla, bla, there's a reason for this behaviour and it is such and such, bla, bla, bla, bla, bla" and i'm personally getting bored with the sound of my own voice on the subject. Whereas Loke on the other hand chooses to show people the negative results of making harsh blanket statements about entire nations by doing exactly that with the United States of America as his example country. It stirs up enormous amounts of aggression and conflict. I think he has demonstrated emphatically the wholly destructive nature of making racial slurs, and I hope he stops now because I, along with everyone else on this site, am getting fed up of seeing it.
snowballeffect:
I honestly don't think they will ever learn or understand what you guys mean. Good luck.
mArtiAn:
Nope, they won't learn shit till it bites them on the arse. If the poor dears gotta vent, then let 'em vent I say.
Just the nature of the internet really. When there's no repercussions to what you say, people tend to go overboard and say things they wouldn't normally say. Or say things in a much more hateful way than normal because it's not like in the "real" world where you have to worry about being looked down upon or even worse getting beat up.

TedDBayer:
problem with #2, best Corvette was 63, split window. I had a 74 and always regretted not buying an older one. I liked them more, but now the prices are sky high. One of my friends has a concours vette that he is asking $450,000 for.
Don't sweat it. There's a very small number of posters who think the appropriate answer to anything that's not a cheer for China is to say the US is sh!t, no matter if it's in any way relevent to the thread or not.
The majority of people here, while they may or may not like your government/recent actions, recognise this is eChinacities and that randomly saying "but your government invades people!" as a response to comments about China is pointless.
GuilinRaf:
Why bash the good ol' US of A? I would guess that it is because it is assumed that most foreigners here are American ( a mistake made by both locals and expats alike on this site).
(Sorry I had to write my comment here, seems like the new comments option has been closed).
mArtiAn:
You're absolutely right: anything that doesn't sing the praises of the good old PRC is considered blasphemous. Thank God you didn't go the obvious route of over-exaggerating, good for you.
MissA:
Still working on that sarcasm, martian? Don't worry, you'll get there one day.
Raf, you're more than welcome to crash my thread. Personally, I enjoy it when the Candians that post here are given the anti-US rehtoric; I'm sure they're devastated.
lokethebloke:
Why are you so narrow minded? Why can't you see the bigger picture?
It's not about having a dig at China, the United States of America or any other country for that matter, it's about stopping a slow insidious negative perception of all things chinese which this site has been doing for years. I couldn't agree more that in parts china is a 'shit hole', but then again so are most countries in this imperfect world, including our own two countries. (Australia/UK)
I've been shouting negative stuff about the United States of America for only a few weeks purely to try to balance the books and look what happens, an all out war.
The chinese have been subjected to coordinated negative questions and answers for years and because on the odd occasion one or two of them have had the audacity to question this verbal cancer they were easy pickings for the 'usual suspects'. Suddenly a few relatively articulate brits come along to spoil the 'usual suspects' 'fun'.
Think how the chinese feel, try a bit of empathy, imagine what the constant drip drip drip of negativity has been having on some people here including the chinese. How would you feel if it was constantly being hinted that your arms were developing 'bat wings' and that cellulite was taking over your body!!!!
It says a lot about the quality of debate of some americans and their hangers-on that they are happy to just take the piss out of everything china and chinese and that they are only able to use hostile and foul language, directed at all things china, to enhance their fun after a bad china day.
If that's how the 'usual suspects' and their hangers on want to carry on behaving, fine, but please don't cry foul when some other people come along and try to level the playing field by taking the piss out of them. As the saying goes - If you can't take it, don't dish it out!!
MissA:
You know what? You came on here with a plan to destroy this website and drive everyone away? Congratulations, consider it destroyed, and consider me driven away. This is my last post.
Martian, that was your final, particularly vile insult to me.
Admin, how did you things get so negative and nasty here?
mArtiAn:
Missa, I apologize, but you really haven't given me much reason to be nice to you. If you remember the first posts I made toward you were extremely friendly, even though you were accusing me of being a liar. They were utterly genuine in their attempt at making a friend and your accusation toward me of being a liar and changing a post was utterly unwarranted. I honestly never did any such thing. So once again, I apologize. I am only human. Forgive me.
snowballeffect:
Loke, 100% for that sir. And the bit at the end: "If you can't take it, don't dish it out" is spot on. If you retaliate to one of their barbs one of the fellow disciples comes along and tag teams you, is laughable. Maybe its normal behaviour on these kind of websites, I'm not sure - I'm in shock to be honest.
LAR:
Right on MissA. It is a small number..ergo small minds. Oh yes, the infamous "trio" as I've read which now I've noticed includes one. All wankers indeed. Jeez, should I call them "The Gang of Four"? :0 Yaaaaaaawwwwwwnnnnnn! They have NOTHING else better to do. And, that about sums it up. * I appreciate the notice from the Moderator, but believe me with this bunch nothing is going to change! :( A true pity.
LAR:
m............n, are you happy now? Yet another person..MissA has left..you ******* A*****E!! :( Stick your apology up your ***. It's just one insult after another with you people!
GuilinRaf:
Now Miss A is leaving.
Nice going Adminidog.
People have been complaining for quite a while, and when you finally do stop licking your b*lls, it is a healf hearted wimpy "notice".
Maybe you should actually USE them instead of licking them?
Ban me, suspend me, warn me, I dont care anymore. You are losing the good posters here, and letting this place look more and more like ChinaSMACK....
LAR:
On the money GR!! Folks have been complaining for quite awhile! Enough of the b.s.!!!! Admin person..you really need to put your foot down. Too many good posters have left and are leaving this website..like MissA,Victoria, etc. * Enough with the verbal attacks on Americans, etc! :( * I've never been on a website predominantly used by foreign expats like this before! * And, what is with the past attacks and negative comments regarding Mattaya and Victoria?! * WTF is the problem that SOME people seem to have with them?! :( * Props to Hugh: I just read some of his comments regarding the U.S.A. I'm down with his words because he was RESPECTFUL! KEY WORD!!! * I may not like some of his words..but at least he is RESPECTFUL..something that SOME others sure as hell haven't been on this website!! Straight up!! :(
Lorenzo
TedDBayer:
Loke & posse, you take it too far. You argue over everything. I think you get your jollies trying to stir the pot. I posted about shit on my sidewalk and you go off and try to make it sound like its a good thing. China has problems and for anyone living there, many fustrations. Personally , I like to see you banned. If you're so interested in what the Chinese read here, why are you guys making this forum just one argument after another. I should confess to you that when i post about stuffing my GF in my suitcase etc, I'm hoping a ESL reader takes it litterally. Yes, I'm phucking with their minds.
Because we have been infiltrated by China boosting America bashing communist apologists. Without the USA modern China would not exist but alas, these are merely facts.
xinyuren:
Interesting thing about history. If America had not dropped the bomb on Japan, where would China be? Still under occupation?
mattsm84:
True enough, without foreign markets and loans from foreign governments China's economy wouldn't look like very much.
mArtiAn:
Golly, is that what I am, a Communist apologist? I really had no idea, I honestly thought I was just an ex pipe smoking, dragon chasing, sax playing Brit with a slightly self-righteous, but undeniably British sense of decency and fair play.
But if Communist apologist is what I am, then no time like the present, best foot forward, spit-spot, what what and let's get to it:
I mArtiAn, being of reasonably sound mind, do hereby apologize for all the Communism. We here at Communist headquarters feel just awful about it. Honestly. We absolutely do. We feel like the most frightful rotters and wish to apologize from the heart of our bottoms about all the Communism, and we promise never to do it again.
Much love.
The Communards.
thedude:
Martian. I didn't "Name Names". Are you "Naming Names?"
Also you should google the term "apologetics". It refers the the verbal defense of something...not actually apologizing for it.lokethebloke:
It's got nothing to do with communism, as far as I'm concerned it is dead, it's just to do with decency and mutual respect.
mArtiAn:
Dude, seriously? I mean.........seriously? First off; I think we ALLLLL know who you're talking about, it's been made PERRRFECTLY clear over the past few months who are considered the Communist aggressors on this site: Hugh, Loke and yours truly. And secondly; I KNOW what a bleeding apologist is, thank you. Do you need me to Google the word 'joke' for you? I thought mine was a good one.
Who cares? I'm American. Doesn't bother me at all when the insult or criticism is warranted. The US does a LOT of crappy stuff and I'll be the first to admit it.
Think about how much China-bashing goes on here. I believe some users call it "venting" but it is what it is.
snowballeffect:
Hats off to you sir, the same applies to my country, UK.
wake up mate, the whole world hates America, even your own people are fed up with your government. it doesnt take a genius to figure out why
AdamE:
I dunno about the "whole world hates america". Certainly the American government does some bad things or fucked up things, as does any country.
Overall though America is a pretty awesome place to live and worldwide there's a TON of people who dream of some day living in America.
Just one small example, you don't see parents in America saving up money and pushing their kids hard in school so they can then send their kids to school overseas or more them to another country. You do see people in other countries doing that in regards to America though.
Every countries government has its faults and I think the larger you are the more you are under a microscope. But In my experience in traveling most people like America and view very highly of America, doesn't mean they agree with everything the government does or even like the government, but overall they still hold america in a positive light.
Just my opionon though.
JungleLife:
I understand why many dislike the States, I just tire of reading it when I don't expect to be reading about it much on this site. Not a big deal, Also, I should have pointed out that I am Canadian.
snowballeffect:
Another answer from AdamE (comment above) today:
"I'm told Xinjiang has a lot of crime. Not to sterotype but I suppose it makes sense with the amount of muslims and it's close proximity to muslim countries."
stan118:
dont get me wrong i dont hate any country, but im just saying i can see why people dont like america, but wont stop me from going to the states lol, i wasnt trying to insult anyone just my opinion
LAR:
"the whole world hates America." Typically stupid comment. Yaaaawn.
LAR:
Thanks for your RESPECTFUL words about America Adam!!!!!!!! Damn, it's sooooooooooooooooooo refreshing to see that on this website!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :0 :0 "under a microscope"..excellent and extremely important words!!!!!!! SPOT ON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! A similar adage that I've read in the past (from an American military officer) is how the U.S.A. is like a huge dart board..with darts constantly being thrown at it!
I can only comment for myself and nobody else, I don't hate America or Americans, but I don't think anyone here can realistically deny that a lot of the China bashers are American. What I sometimes do, is when I see a sweeping generalisation, if there is a similar case in the USA I will point that out, e.g. the indoctrination thread NOT because I hate America ( I don't), but because America is a huge, very famous nation that many posters think they know, either through being American or because they have read about America. Now some people may see that as bashing America, but I assure you that is NOT my intention, but if some American people feel the need to leap to the defense of America when I make such posts, all I am hoping for is that they will have the personal integrity and intelligence to look at the similarities / differences I am attempting to highlight and muse on them for a while.
xinyuren:
A lot of the China bashers are American? Of course! Are lot of China bashers Canadian? Ya! And lot of China bashers are European? That too! Just about everyone on this site has some critical things to say about China. so???? Your point is???
Hugh.G.Rection:
Xinyuren, you usually come across as quite lucid and intelligent, what about my point is confusing you?
I make comparisons to America when I see them to highlight the sweeping generalisations a lot of posters make, because a lot of people know, (or think they do) about America, therefore using America as an example is more likely to be understood, than say, using Australia, or Belize, or Gabon, because MORE people know about America.
As an example, if someone were to say, China has used slave labour to power their economy, and I pointed out that so has Ivory Coast, the point may be lost, but if I was to point out the a large part of the American economic boom in it's early years was built on slavery many more people would see the point I was making because American history is much more widely taught than that of many other nations.
xinyuren:
I guess i haven't read your "american bashing" comments in the past so I missed your point.
Hugh.G.Rection:
I seriously try not to 'bash' America, or any other country, that was the main thrust of my point, i.e. I don't bash America, however, I do sometimes use it as a comparison when appropriate.
Suck it up Princess
I dont like some things about the US but I dont hate every Yank I meet
same goes for China ,UK and NZ
And if you have read some of my stuff lately you know there are plenty of things I dont like about my own back yard either
if you dont like what you read then turn the page
However I will give you that some do post off topic to bash the USA for their own agenda
we just have to try and steer it back again
MissA:
"suck it up, princess" - oh, I can't wait till I'm home and that's a perfectly appropriate line to slip into a conversation!
JungleLife:
Ok, I guess I will just have to suck it up. It has been months since a Chinese local has called me an American (Meigouren). And of course it happens today just after I do this post and go outside.
GuilinRaf:
You know how it goes JL. Many people confuse Americans and Canadians. They know we are different, but we still get mistaken.
Last summer, one of my students when he found out I was from the States, said that Vancouver is his favorite city....
LAR:
Well GR..I do know that Vancouver,Washington is a pretty nice city. :)
ccp tactic to counter criticism about china bash america, blame it on something out of china's control. also, if something is wrong with china, say all countries have the same problem (use america as an example)
mArtiAn:
I honestly don't believe there is a single one of these CCP people you talk about, on this site. Not a one. The only people here who've kicked up a stink is me, Hugh and Loke. Now I know me because I am me and I know that me is not in the CCP. I know Hugh too and he would probably knock out anyone who suggested he was a commie. Jeez, that guy even thinks Lennon was a commie. That is a hard-core opinion, but one he holds. Loke, I have never met. But i'm willing to bet green money that he is exactly who he says he is, just some sheep-shagging Welshman from the valleys, boy-ohhh!
lokethebloke:
No just a welshman's way to even out the critism. and I haven't got round to shagging sheep, yet.
