Q: What's the price difference between manual and automatic cars here?

Which are more common/expensive?

Manual (or standard) transmission are very common in China, and cheaper too.  Mostly manual transmissions are present in the low end of the price scale vehicles.  Automatic transmissions are more common in high priced vehicles, luxury type, and of course, they are more expensive.

I am not aware of the actual cost difference here at present time.

A manual car would be your sports cars so they would be the higher priced cars. When you get your insurance if you have a sports car and a newer model depending on the year the manual will be more expensive. Automatic transmission cars are pretty common and most automatic cars won't be sports cars or any top of the line cars. Manual>Automatic. smiley

Mattaya: your answers are always so far away from reality in China, that I do wonder if you ever set foot here. Your reply for automatic versus manual transmissions is true for most western countries, but not for China. Almost every taxi here has manual transmission, and so most compacts and economic sizes. Only cars with automatic transmission are the top of the line models, for the newly rich showing off their new wealth.
