I recognise the MSG. And there's something that looks like salt... and the vinegar and soy... (and the chilli flakes that I always 'bu yao').

i can make a good chaofan at home, and don't use that stuff....
Excess rice from the day before, the vegetables which are close to become to old, some eggs, some spice. All that in the wok, and *bam*, chao fan. A bit of oil to avoid a sticky and burnt disaster. No MSG. No salt if it's just for me, wife wants additional salt.

A good and nearly thorough answer! I just wanted to make a slight modification. Definitely a TON of oil and not just a little, ah, and let's make that recycled oil (oops, I mean festering oil muck dredged up from the sewers and remade into oil)
