Q: What's the take on abortion?

I've heard quite a few young Chinese women telling me having an abortion would make them incapable of having a child afterward...

huh? is this one of those ridiculous myths? Like taking the pill - i've also heard them going on about how taking the pill in China was VERY bad, would have numerous physical repercussions, which is why none of them take it...

just seems very strange to me

Well, anything that is Chemical, they have been taught at an early age as being bad. The fact that abortion is highly acceptable, just look at the TV every other commerical is an abortion womens hospital. The commerical will say, you'll feel nothing, you can go back to work the same day. I'll never forget one discussion I had with my wife. I asked her if marijuna was illegal in China, she said ohh my god ****, that's a bad drug westerners use, it will never be legal in China. I, looked over at the plant I was standing beside and said are you sure about that, again she said, ***** Never we have learned a long time ago. I said baby, this is marijuna, her response, no way thats not marijuna. We grow that in my hometown, it's seeds are used for colds and flus, and the oil for other things, older people use it to relax and you can buy small amounts at the chemist for tea to help women during their time of the month. Ummm, so you see where I'm going with this right. But my god, a foreigner gets caught selling it, and well you know where I'm going with that too.

i guess i am a better person to answer this question. i am doing my house surgency in a famous hospital in Chengdu. i just finished my rotations in the OB/GYN department. well i worked in the clinic and we were doing a lot of induced abortions every day and most of them are teenagers who goes to the clinic for abortions. the weirdest part is girls go to clinic by the end of 2nd trimester or first of 3rd trimester.

And here is the fact. i dont agree if a woman go for a abortion it wont make her incapable of carrying again.

abortions do not effect the fertility of women but though the pills taking can stop the menses or effect the mense cycle. girls need to know when they miss their first mense they shall know they are pregnant.they shall do the pregnacy test which is much more better and easy to do. abortion can affect health by making them weak but it can be recovered.....

but guys use condoms while sex, girls use the girls things for it..... though its fun but the result is hospital at the end

An abortion in and of itself cannot cause infertility.. BUT A botched abortion can damage the lining of the uterus and prevent future pregnancies, yes. So, yes it can cause this as a side effect of poor medical treatment. (Anyone been to a hospital in China lately? Guess what the likelyhood is of the procedure being sterile and decently executed...slim to nil)

As for the pill.. most girls don't want to take it due to the very real side effect of WEIGHT GAIN... Just skip taking the pill and use abortion as birth control! Deplorable.

I think some of these myths are perpetrated by Chinese girls looking to hook a man she might not otherwise be able to keep. Not that this is new, same game, a few new rules.

I heard a number of these excuses come out of a Chinese girl dating an American guy recently. Only took her about 4 moths of this list of reasons why she couldn't have any birth control to get pregnant. No one believes for a moment that it was an accident on her part. But that's women everywhere.

Never leave family planning just to her. Wrap your tool or suffer the consequences.

I don't know what woman in her reasonable mind would voluntarily prefer abortion as a birth control method over taking the pill as SciFiBri suggests. I really can't imagine that any woman actually wants to have an abortion, but those who do do so out of necessity.

But, in defense of women who don't take the pill, for many the reason isn't as superficial as "weight gain" which SciFiBri also suggests, but because of how taking all those hormones and fooling your body each month, actually really fucks you up. It changes your mood, sometimes even your personality. Many girls have other unpleasant side effects like itchiness all over etc. And there's also the environmental aspect: taking the pill means women's urine contains high levels of hormones which then eventually seeps back into the water system so our drinking water is becomming more and more polluted with hormones and fish are being poisoned. So it actually causes a lot of eco damage! Here's an article about it of you don't believe me:

Luckily all the women in China are traditional Chinese girls so certainly it cannot be to many getting abortions to begin with... Wink Better to have an abortion than to push the numbers higher that's for sure! Smile

Recycling sustainable procedures for dead fetuses, sort of like growing animals, guess it's better than grinding it up for food or gutter oil.

Is this because the current pope is from this neck of the woods or is religion not dead yet in South America like it's dead in Europe?
