I'm pretty sure many people have aspirations other than English teaching, so I was wondering what you would like to do if money and bureaucracy wasn't an issue?
I think running an ecotourism company out here would be great, aimed at the foreign market.

I have always wanted to open a bikini waxing saloon. Its been my dream for years. but at home there is just a small market, not like China. Where else could I get a job that was that much fun and get paid? I think I'd even have free Fridays. Two for one Tuesdays.
Actually, I am doing exactly what i want: teaching.
I'd open a cute bakery/cafe type place, where the people who work there have to wear cute apron or something.
Jnusb416:
Did I mention I'd wear something cute too? Oh, and I could have a stage in there and sing or something. Come see the cute singing foreigner! Yeah, that'll work.
tomcatflyer:
Let us know when you do this Jnusb and I will bring all the expats from Nanning to see you.
Jnusb416:
Haha, chances are I never would because I don't plan to stay in China. But if I do become a singer back home, I'll let you know.
become Emperor
the first thing I would do is kick all you Bloody foreigners out.
I would need a security team so I would have to keep Hugs and Jnusb to run that
Probly need Crimo to run the public affairs portfolio
and Ted for air quality.
Raf can do pest control and make sure we eradicate all Troll's
however for the rest you will need a good reason to stay.
TedDBayer:
If you don't mind, I'd like to head the womens census bureau, i'm sure they have been miscounted and I would be more than happy to make sure they were all counted correctly, Besises I already claimed the Emporer job last summer at the Forbidden City.
derek:
I suppose I'll have to show my guanxi and bribe the hell outta you in Harbin in an effort to stay.
HugAPanda:
Do we get suites in the palace? Minions to carry us around, cook and feed us? Yayas to clean up after us and the minions?
Can I have a pet panda?
philbravery:
Sorry Hugs
pandas need to be kept in pairs
so take 2
and if you want to dress yaya in a panda suit you can
bill8899:
If you don't let me stay I'll kick your ass. I don't do baujiu dinners, red envelopes and guanxi, sorry.
philbravery:
Now that is not nice
this is a bit of fun and you should not threaten people for no good reason
tell me do you suffer from short man syndrome ?
and I don't mean small Dick syndrome all though I'm sure you have that as well
Hugs can you get Yaya to clean out the kitty tray
there is something really nasty in it.

Seriously, I would love to own a farm, and be able to grow things in it. I have seen many cane fields, and the way sugar cane is grown here is exactly using the same techniques of maybe the 1700's era. Sugar cane for sugar mills is as thin as my "pinkie", maybe about 4 to 5 feet tall, and low in sugar content. I know a farmer who gets only 6 metric tons of sugar cane per mu of area planted. At my grandfather farm back home who normally get from 12 to 15 tons per mu. And the modern techniques for its grow are not that complicated. If I lay my hands on one, I can gross from 3 to 4 million Rmb per year, maybe 1/2 or better clear profit.
And not so serious, would love to become a "matchmaker"
TedDBayer:
Yes, things should grow well in this climate. ---- Set me up with a new girl friend. I want a better one. An old fashion girl that walks behind me as a show of respect. I think modern girls like in Laos will walk in front of you. but this is to look for land mines. I think long ago when they walked behind you, it had something to do with tigers.
profenieto:
It’s a good idea; I’m agreeing that with the American techniques you can easily boost the caña’s production here, although the matchmaker option is not bad.
xunliang:
happy are u Chinese? why do you use the Chinese measurement of mu?
HappyExPat:
Xunliang: No, I am not Chinese, I am a USA born and raised individual from Louisiana, south of Baton Rouge. And in China, a "mu" is a unit of area normally used in the country side. And 16.1 "mu" are one acre in USA. I learned that here by talking to farmers. It is like "jin" a unit of weigh used in many stores and markets, which is 1/2 of a kilo, or 1.1 pounds. Maybe I am the "odd" foreigner here, or half crazy, but I have no problem in learning and using your way of life. I am not here to impose my way into any of the locals. Now, be aware, not because I learn and use your ways, it will mean I will loose my personality. That one is set in concrete, But additional knowledge is always welcome, and will be used without reservation while in China.
I'd start a service industry who's sole purpose is to have a group of people walk around and smack people on the back of the head anytime that person can't wait his/her turn, can't spend the effort to talk five steps to throw the trash in the garbage, can't take his/her kid to use a bathroom instead of the middle of the sidewalk, etc.
DaBen:
Of course you can Hugs, but remember we are trying to teach through negative reenforcement, not severely punish them for their ways.... so make sure we're both talking about the same head you want to thump.
HugAPanda:
Oh. I better take that under consideration.
Nonono... Im good. There are only a couple who need the little head thumped. THumped... NOT humped. Just wanna point that out in case Ted reads.
I'll be a good Big Head Head Thumper!
A job that would earn me millions of dollars instead of thousands of dollars...so opening up a million dollar company or possibly setting up a billion dollar company and being the CEO. I worked for a million dollar company before I wasn't a CEO but the CEO's had multiple homes and cars and were financially free.
Be a history teacher in an international school, although my second option is to open a Mexican restaurant.
dandmcd:
Guangzhou seriously needs some good Mexican food, the most misrepresented food in these parts. Open shop here, please!
TedDBayer:
thats a scarey thought, like worrying about Chinese food wasn't bad enough, Chinese-Mexican food = Maos Montezumas revenge
i am doing my dream job in china and i am happy with doing my job
I wanna be a panda bear care taker. Yanno, feed em, play with em, hug em. And let someone else clean up their poop.
An English language training school~
yep, I think outside the box !
Financial advisor for family members of high ranking officials....oh wait...scratch that.
i am a medical doctor n wana to teach young medical students.....
