It will take a lot of time especially ones own country. If she lived (or you) in another country it would be easier for you to be with him, but on the other hand it might be harder for him to be with you in his country!

i dont think the image of chinese women is what you described in shanghai, you described a certain "class of woman" many women that i have come across are simply looking for a real commitment and a devoted husband who will care for them and protect them.
i think the image of chinese women is ok, in that regard. why do you reject foreign guys? there seems to be no correlation between what you describe and rejecting foreign guys. shanghai is not china, (good or bad when it comes to foreigners and chinese )

Aww I actually understand Wenna a bit more after reading this question. I know what it's like to fight so hard to be the opposite of what everyone assumes of you and your people. It can sometimes give you the desire to overcompensate just to prove everyone wrong. Wenna won't date foreign guys, not because she believes they all have these negative qualities, but because she wants to prove that not all Chinese women are golddiggers or obsessed with foreigners.

I'm actually positive that she doesn't believe all the stuff she posts about foreign men being perverts, etc. I'm sure she knows that just like all Chinese women are not the same, all foreign men are not the same. It's probably her effort to strike back harshly after all the harsh attacks that people throw at Chinese women.

Hmm , it took about 6,000 years for Chinese women to get this reputation. That being said it's certainly going to take a while for it to change BUT I do think that just you being different is already a start. There may be some little Chinese girl in your life whose life you have already impacted just by being the way you are. You and other women like you continue being positive role models, not through aggressively attacking foreign men but just by being yourselves. You may not change all women but you will show people that you are not all the same

This happens all over the world,but in China it is much more prevalent.In westeren world these things are not taken too seriously.But since Easten countries have learned this from Western world,which is more of materilistic and fantasy and this is something different from your culture,you feel sad for this.If we follow the principles which western world follow to develop themselves,we should intake this also.Since all people are running behind materilistic world ,not giving any value to human relations,I mean gadget freaks,people who don't have money just get motivated and somehow  want to make money,for girls making money out of themselves is easy so all this happens.Love people other then loving things made by people,this the only way to solve most of the problems happening in world.

ps. the keyword is "might". People might change the image of "a" chinese woman. Not all chinese women are same and opinions about any individual should be limited to the individual. Any individual doesn't necessarily represent the mentality of a society or a group of any kind.

Wenna, you also need to understand that not all foreign men are complete tools and not all Chinese women are gold digging sluts.

Just like anywhere else in the world there are good quality people and bad.

Because China has such a large population, maybe there are more of both here.

I think a large part of the problem is the city she's talking about... Shanghai - the most materialistic, capitalistic (gold-digging) city in all of China. People go to SH because they see it as the place to get rich, to find their fortune, and I daresay, many women (girls) go to Shanghai to potentially hook up with some rich guy to make their life so much easier. Perhaps this is more true for those moving to Shanghai, but also remember that those locals who have the money will automatically have a materialistic mentality - the expectations are just there.

Wenna I understand where you are coming from, but you seem to fall into two traps yourself.

Firstly for the image of Chinese women you seem to focus on the sluts and I am sure you know not all Chinese women are like that. Are you like that? Are your friends or family members like that. I am sure you and they are not. The image of the gold-digger is not unique to China, there are plenty of these women in every country. The general opinion of Chinese women from where I come from, England, is that they are beautiful, hard working, very caring and very family orientated and very loyal. I am sure you will agree these are all admirable qualities.

Secondly you reject all foreign men. Is this not a litlle like stereotyping all men like you believe all Chinese women are stereotyped. Yes there are enough, mainly the young ones, who just want to hang around the bars, take a woman home, have sex ( note I did not say make love), forget her name and move onto the next one. Again these men can be found in all countries, but as I say they are mainly younger guys doing what young guys do. In the same way as all Chinese women are not all the same, not all foreign men are the same. Many of us value the friendship, love and loyalty of the right sort of Chinese women. It may surprise you to know that many western men choose to look for their wives in Asia purely because of these qualities, and because they are lacking in a lot of western women, not all, but a lot.

There is no reason to feel ashamed about dating a foreign man. People will judge you on who you are and how you behave. Perhaps you should date the western man just to show everyone that you are not like the pick-up girls at the bars and KTV places. If you ever come to Nanning I would be happy to introduce you to my wife, who is Chinese, her family and some of the other Chinese women I know, and believe me none of them are gold diggers.

It's dangerous and hurtful. 
The example you just cited of the bar girls gold digging foreigners is just a result of poverty and media driven materialism. The desire to get ahead in life and leave the impoverished life for those girls is too strong. Stronger than the pull of real love.

And it's not only in China. It's everywhere. Just more common in China because of the huge population and the fact that China recently opened up to the world.
But if you also hold a grudge against foreign guys, then you're just re-enforcing a whole different stereotype altogether.
Stereotypes mess up this world and will hinder human development.

Its not only Chinese girls.. its like this all over the world.. the cheap girls are after money, and they in the minority... 3 years ive been here i dated 7 girls.... and only 1 was after money, i had a doctor gf, she was very rich, 3 houses, ofice buildinf and another business, she wasnt after my wallet. You can agree with it or not but I guess more people feel the same way that you do. Change has to be done by yourself and no other person. It's hard to change someone's mind or opinion once it has been set in stone.
