Q: Where do you draw the line?

Now we all know that a school or training organization are out to make money.
And we all know customer service is important too.
However there is a line between good customer relations and Quality delivery of service.
So if I fail a student because they didn't meet the criteria that should be that .
But as we all know, there will be some been counter worried about the bottom line and sometimes fraudulently change the result so the good name of the business isn't tarnished.
So how do you deal with theses .....ahh.....ummm.....well meaning misguided. ....total f@#k wit's.
And what really gets me pissed is they say you are to blame and not the fact that the client can't pass the wriggles test .
For those scratching their head ....the Wriggles test is being able to demonstrate that they can walk and chew gum at the same time

You must understand just trying to make money is not well intentioned. A teacher's job is to prepare their students for the future. So they educate them and then to make sure they retained the info they are tested. Those who fail must repeat . It is best for the students that they don't enter the world ill prepared, that is good customer service .

I used to worry about that too, but then I gave up. Yes, Chiner has won, now I don't give a fk anymore. Yay, Chiner!

I meet the parents of the biggest fk-off I've ever had in a classroom, and I smile and say, I really like your son, he's a good student, pays attention and seems like he really wants to learn. They smile, he smiles, I smile.

and the ol' Rock continues it's merry journey around the Sun.

Funny thing is I don't do it for profits, I work in a public school.  I just do it because I don't give an intercourse anymore. I used to beat my head against the wall over behavior. I came from the time and place where school was pretty strict. Then I found out the 'students' didn't give a rat's ass, and were never gonna change, so why was I getting apoplectic and sitting around in the evening miserably mulling over these matters.  fk it I say, let 'em work at KFC, they are happy by nature and less than academically inclined and that's the way it is. Fk 'em.

Sadly I actually based this post around a recent but repetitive occurrence in Australia.

Yup, me too.

I worked briefly in a public school when I first came to China and tried going down the integrity road when I saw kids blatantly cheating and the teachers encouraging it.

LOL, naive idiot that I was I actually thought I was helping them with a valuable life lesson.. all I got was abuse from everyone involved.

After that my attitude was let them cheat, if China wants to keep the population stupid and uneducated by allowing and encouraging cheating I'll just smirk and go along with it, and if the kids (with the school's help) cheat their way to an eventual foreign university and then not understand a thing that's being said I don't care.

Apathy is the answer to all of your China headaches. Works like a charm. I stopped giving a damn about anything and everything several years ago and I feel so good about it. From tiny daily life events "car honking at me? people being stupid? don't care" to professional things "customer dissatisfied? cool story bro, I already took your money". I see people losing it at my 'dontgiveafuck' attitude and I laugh at them, whatcha gonna do bro?

My line is at the job advert. If the job seems like one where such crap happens, I don't apply.

If it turns out that the job I've just got does do the above mentioned crap, I kick a stink, and leave.

The thing is, as much as some on here have given me schtick over my qualifications, those same quals have put me in the position that schools tend to STFU  (at least to my face, and for that semester/year). It's pretty damn hard for them to tell an IELTS examiner that their English is actually ok, and that it's fine to change the scores - when the kids are going to need IELTS in the future.

A:That would be an awful experience. I would call your embassy asap, they might be able to suggest something or give you a temporary replacement or something. I'm sure they would have seen this before. You may also need something from the PSB to say that you still have a valid visa in order to leave the country. Do you at least have a copy of your visa and passport front page, or can you get one?  If you have been working here your employer would probably have copies. In the mean time, turn the place upside down trying to find your passport.Good luck mate.   -- Stiggs
