Q: Where to get the best deal on a motorcycle in China?

I'm looking to buy a motorcycle - maybe in the 750cc range but don't know where to look for a good deal and no... the last thing I want is an "agent".  Any suggestions?

I've never seen anything more than 250cc, good luck finding something that big.  What kind of bike do you want?  Cruiser, sport, ?  Also, you'll need to pass an examination for a driving license (specifically for motorcycles though).

I cannot verify this but I heard on this site that motorbikes over 250cc are banned in China, the only exceptions are for showrooms, (and for those with guanxi of course).

Nessquick:

yeah, they are banned, but i saw some here. imported and of course, have cost some red envelopes. i did not ask them.  I wait to get one back home, and enjoy free ride without thinking to pay always some guanxi :P

Actually Hugh, you are almost right...Bikes bigger than 250cc are not allowed within the 4th ring road but I see them all the time including huge Harleys and Ninja cafe racers. They are here for sure but I have no clue where they are being sold. I had bought a Honda Nighthawk 750 from my old roomie two years ago and never once got stopped by any coppers even though I have no plates. My roomie was here for five years and he said he was only stopped once but the cop told him to go when he saw it was a foreigner under the helmet - maybe because he couldn't speak English.

Nessquick:

i was also stopped and have been said the same when they saw my white face, for the same reason i guess. but it was only 125cc one :)
