Q: Where have you visited in China...

...and how does it compare to where you are living now?

I've been to Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Hong Kong, Chongqing, and countless other smaller cities and towns, but I really like where I live now (Changsha). The cost of living is lower, there is plenty of entertainment, and the food is great!

How about you?

I have been to Beijing, Shanghai, Taiyuan, Zhuhai, Guangzhou, Shenzen, Xiamen, Putian, Fuzhou, Shenyang, Nanjing, Chengdu and a few other smaller cities/towns.  Currently, in Fushun, and this is a nice place and cost is relatively low.

Ive lived in Chengdu, Guangzhou, Dalian, and currently in Xiaoshan (next to hangzhou), but ive biked through part sichuan, guizhou, guangxi, guangdong, and liaoning. I think my favorite was guizhou because I like the mountains, and I met a lot of good people in the small villages

Guangzhou (favortie city), Dalian (second favorite), Wuhan, Beijing, Shanghai, Shenyang, Tsingtao, Shenzhen, Dongguan, Hong Kong, Nanning, Nanjing, Maccau and several small towns here and there.

Currently I split my time between Guangzhou & Wuhan.  Love Guangzhou, hate Wuhan.

I'm not too well travelled either. I'm living in Hangzhou, which probably rates as the best of the lot, but I've popped into Harbin (in winter for the ice festival, so not long), Beijing, Shanghai, Nanchang, Nanjing, Suzhou (nice!), and just recently, ChongQing. Now that I've finished my studies, all I need to do is get the money to start going to more places!` While I was in Shenzhen, it was only on the way back from home, and the weather was crap :(

Its hard to remember. Most of the places were for work, although some were for pleasure.

Guangzhou, Foshan, Gaoming, Dongguan and surrounding areas( Dao Jiao, Changpeng, Qiaotou); Shenzhen, Hong Kong, Macau (Aomen); Zhongshan, Zhuhai, Haikou (nice), Sanya (very nice);  Wuxi, Shanghai, Suzhou, Nantong, Jinan, Chen Village (Henan Province- Birthplace of Tai Chi); Dengfeng (to visit Shaolin Temple); Zhengzhou, Dunhuang, Urumchi, Shi He Zi, Village 32 (also in Xinjiang); Linan, Hangzhou, Jiangmen and Xinwei area (I own a home there); Kaipeng, Beijing and Zhuzhou.

Oops I almost forgot, Taipei and Kaohsiung in Taiwan, since China thinks they own it Smile

I knows there are more, but I would have to think real hard about it!

giadrosich:

Zhuzhou?! I often joke with my students about Zhuzhou, as in "nothing ever happens in Zhuzhou!" It's about an hour down the road from where I live now in Changsha. I much prefer Xiangtan. Very nice art department at the University and some good expats teaching there.

Guangzhou, Foshan, Dongguan, Shenzhen, Zhuhai, Changsha, Zhuzhou, Guilin, Yangshuo, Guizhou, Zhenyuan, Nanchang, Zhengzhou, Wuhan, Xinxiang, Shangqiu, Hefei, Fuzhou, Xiamen, Fuqing, Taizhou, Wenzhou, Shanghai, Wuxi, Suzhou, Hangzhou, Xuzhou, Sanya, Nanjing, Changge, Nantong, Qingdao,Yichun, Ji'an, and my hometown, Xinyu.

I prefer small cities in a warm climate with a mountain or river view.  Fuqing is outstanding in this regard.  Sanya was nice in a western sort of way. Wuxi is a favorite of mine.  Yangshuo took my breath away.  Xinyu is just a place to hang my hat while I travel.

Wow, you've been around the block a time or two in China, Kudo's, very impressive!

Yangshao/Guilin is beautiful. We went to Mangshan National Forest Reserve last summer (on the boarder of Hunan and Guandong Province). It takes about a week to tour the park properly. Beautiful mountains and clear streams are the rule. It also has some nice geological features. But for the best, of course, I still recommend Zhang Jia Jie! Simply marvelous!

@giadrosich - oh, you are talking about vacation spots. I was speaking of living locations. Yeah, I agree, Zhang Jia Jie is the best tourist place.
