So let me get this straight.

You have no marketing plan, market or buyers and import some wood to China and want random people from a Q&A website to do the leg work for free for you to start a business? That'll work!

I'll get right on it and start contacting everyone I know.

Who said Business Plan?? I think you are on a winner.

robin013:

Yes, thats my winner plan bro, walking around the city with a bag of wood, and when i get it in the end of the road, try to ask in some internet website, and got really good answer, its really a stupid winner plan. Appreciate ur answer. Thanks

I'm sure this makes sense to you, but it seems weird to import some kind of commodity to a country without any idea what to do with it.

Like somebody showing up with a suitcase full of iron ingots or zinc and trying to sell it on the street. "I hung out down at the docks for years and saved up for a whole suitcase full of cubed zinc! Now it's off to china to make my fortune!"

Stiggs:

And if robin013 were to tell people what the stuff is used for, they might be able to suggest a place to sell it.

Agarwood, also known as oud, oodh or agar, is a dark resinous heartwood that forms in Aquilariaand Gyrinops[1] trees (large evergreens native tosoutheast Asia) when they become infected with a type of mould. Prior to infection, the heartwood is relatively light and pale coloured; however, as the infection progresses, the tree produces a dark aromatic resin in response to the attack, which results in a very dense, dark, resin embedded heartwood. The resin embedded wood is commonly called gaharu, jinko, aloeswood, agarwood, or oud(not to be confused with 'Bakhoor') and is valued in many cultures for its distinctive fragrance, and thus is used for incense and perfumes.Uninfected Aquilaria wood lacking the dark resin. One of the main reasons for the relative rarity and high cost of agarwood is the depletion of the wild resource.[2] Since 1995 Aquilaria malaccensis, the primary source, has been listed in Appendix II (potentially threatened species) by the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora.[3] In 2004 all Aquilariaspecies were listed in Appendix II; however, a number of countries have outstanding reservations regarding that listing.[3]First-grade agarwood is one of the most expensive natural raw materials in the world.[citation needed] A whole range of qualities and products are on the market, varying in quality with geographical location and cultural deposition. Oud oil is distilled from agarwood, and fetches high prices depending on the oil's purity. The current global market for agarwood is estimated to be in the range of US$6 – 8 billion and is growing rapidly

So - you've decided to start up a business selling wood from an ENDANGERED SPECIES - and choosing to sell it in China, knowing that no-one here gives a fuck about such things.

Damn! I knew I shouldn't have stopped paying those rhino, elephant and tiger poachers.. I would have made a killing in the ivory and furs trade here!!!

Thats good idea bro

last year was looking around to get a fitted kitchen in my apartment and one place wanted to charge more due to the fact the cupboard doors were made from Italian wood?!

still dont know what the F that difference makes apart from the fact that they obviously think Chinese wood is poorer quality than Italian or that having Italian wood kitchen cupboard doors is something to brag about when having dinner guests etc.

Shining_brow:

Wood??/

I'd heard Italian Marble is in demand - never wood!

yeah my thoughts exactly!

i suppose the fact the materials were obviously made in Italy and imported here would add to the sale price but to just fob me off with "its Italian" as a reason why the price was a lot more to me just sums up the materialistic and pretentious attitude of people in this country who want good quality. Deep down they know 'made in china' = cheap crap that lasts 5 minutes so try to rip people off with stuff that is made by factories in the west who actually have quality control.
