I'd love to head up to Changbaishan, I hear it's beautiful in the summer, and you can get a proper look into North Korea too..

I'll be working since I don't work in the schools.  I'll get my vacation time in this Spring or in Fall.  I do want to go more south west towards the Hainan Province.  I know Sanya is amazing from what I've heard, and there are many little known beaches northeast of Hainan that would be great to check out.  Bikini girls, volleyball, and great food, that sounds nice.

I was thinking about taking a trip to Tokyo for a few days. Tickets are fairly cheap right now (~2,500 rmb). Anyone been to Japan in the summer? Good or bad idea?

I'm shooting for Indonesia!  Fly into Denpasar then go on one of the jungle-treks w/ the Bali Reptile Rescue gang....   The East Java one sounds like a pretty darn cool night-time jungle trek...

If I can get open-jaw return ticket fly up to Pontianak to straddle the Equator, then overland up to Kota Kinabalu, then jet back to HK.

Money is for spending,   right ?

Summer holiday is starting on the 15th of May for me and the misses.

Starting in Singapore, taking the train to Malaysia flying to Koh Samui in Thailand. From there doing some island hopping and ending up in Bangkok somehow before going back to Shenzhen.

Probably also going around China for a few weeks.

I don't plan on taking a summer vacation per se, but I will be going to Taiwan to teach. I'll be getting there a few days before training, and I'll always have Sundays free, which means I'm going to the beach. angel

Is there a camp in Taiwan?

With HESS, there are opportunities for summer camps, but only after working there for a year as a teacher first. Some are paid, some are volunteer work.

A: "... through ..."?  Only "through" comes to mind is "Shenzhen agent can connect you with an employer, who's authorized to hire waigouren ... and can sponsor Z visa." It's not like every 10th person you meet in Shenzhen's hood can sponsor work visa ...  The only way to change from student to labourer visa is just a regular way by: 1. Finding an employer, who'll apply for an Invitation letter; 2. Exit China and apply for Z visa in your home country's Chinese embassy; 3. Enter China in 30-days after Z visa was stamped into your travelling instrument ...As I am aware, you won't be able to switch to Working permit by remaining in China....,so make ready for a return to your home .... -- icnif77
