I need to get some furniture for my flat - sofa, chairs and table. I really don't want to buy generic stuff from IKEA. Can anyone recommend a good market for these things. Don't need anything too fancy, just comfy.
Also if you buy stuff like this do you need to rent a van before you go or are they waiting at the market to assist you?
Thanks.
Beijing's furniture markets are generally located on the outskirts of the city and are hard to reach without a car. For this reason I would recommend sticking to IKEA or even going online. I know people who've bought their furniture and household needs on taobao, ganji.com and 58.com.
There's a furniture street somewhere near Gaobeidian station - it's a 5minute walk from the station. There's a massive furniture store that has 'antique' furniture in lots of styles - in particular Chinese. It's all very nice stuff. The main store in the street is called 'Lilly's' or 'Lillies'. But there are plenty of other shops nearby. Lilly's also does delivery.
