I have a friend who wish to visit China to look at products he could sell to the African market.

from what I read , chinese hookers
Localla:
I just wanna say im proud of you.....you are A real MAN....
crimochina:
import localla she would have the time of her life, she would be pleasured in ways that she could never imagine
You are asking the wrong people. You need to see what sells well in africa, then try to find it in China at a cheaper price.
Absolutely nothing where you have to work with.
Guns, knifes etc... will sell good. Oh... Condoms would be a good article too.
rich45:
conodoms from China? dont you think they might have a problem oth the size?
Fritze,
Im South African and can tell you that your friend is trying to tap into a very competitive market.
Guangzhou now has an African poplulation of about 200'000 known as ''Little Africa'' (Xiao Bei) trying to do the exact same thing.

But anyways, good luck to him

I completely agree with Jona. Here in Guangzhou, there are tons of Africans tapping into almost every market for export. It is a very saturated market. But the main items of interest seem to be leather goods, textiles & cheap electronics. Just make sure your friend keeps his visa up to date. The police and Africans here do not get along well.
Jona:
Ive even heard rumours from Chinese people that some of the Africans in Guangzhou will destroy their passports so they cannot be deported. They have a distributor in their home country and stay in China to source suitable products. But Xpat.John is righ, Chinese (including the police) hate them

Jona, they are also well known for dealing drugs, prostitution and running all sorts of scams. If the police catch them without a passport, or an expired visa they are arrested and forced to pay for a plane ticket home. If they don't prove a country of origin, they are shipped to Nigeria (who, I think has an arrangement with China). If they can't or won't pay for a ticket home, they are forced to beg outside the police station for up to 14 hours per day until they raise the money. (At least that was the case last time I looked about a year ago.)
You guys are making all Africans sound like a bunch of thugs and losers. Talk about heavy generalization...
Fritze, Africa has 54 countries, your friend should probably be more specific. You make it sound as if it's one country. Every country has it's own people with their own culture, styles, likes or dislikes. Just like Europe.
If your friend really wants to sell stuff in the continent of Africa, then he should do some heavy market reseach from there, not here in China.
And this Answers section is not the place to do market research considering most of the members of this site are not African and or know little about it.
But if you must know, electronics and textiles are the biggest China-Africa trade items.
Fritze:
Thanx Nile, well he is from South Africa, I just asked as i like to know where i should take him when he comes.....
Xpat.John:
I am not trying to generalize at all. I am simply stating facts. The Africans in Guangzhou are well known for all the things I have listed. No generalizations at all. I am also sure that the vast majority of them are good, hard working people. Several of the people I consider friends are from Zimbabwe and Nigeria.
You have some Chinese companies in South Africa doing business there (construction, mining, import/export etc) which adds even more competition.
I would guess cell phones would be a good mover. They are all unlocked over here and pretty cheap.
Any kind of food, i heard in some parts of Africa, they start riots for a snickers bar!
guns... i hear they go down pretty well in most parts of africa
It is jennie here, according to me product sourcing and quality control experience at shenzhen,China.
i suggest you sell some low market goods will be good to Africa market, goods sold must be suitable local situation at Africa.for example, downy clothes obvious not meet Africa market because there very hot.who will buy this warm clothes wearing?before jump up ,do market research...
