Q: Who can help me with clothes washing in Shanghai?

My landlord does not allow me to move laundry machine in for the reason of electricity leaking. Who can allow me to use her/his laundry machine every week? I can either pay or teach you Chinese for exchange.
I need help, it is so tiring to wash clothes by hands:((((
My single apartment is only 2200rmb, which is very nice price in Shanghai. The chance for me to find a cheap nice single apartment is slim, so I prefer find a place to wash my clothes.

What is electricity leaking? Do you mean the landlord thinks it will use too much electricity?

Viki87:

electricity leakage, means your body may feel electricity and may even get electrocuted.

If it's a bad plug in that room just offer to get it fixed yourself, it couldn't cost that much. Or tell the landlord you'll get an extension cord and plug the washing machine into a plug in the next room when you do your washing so you're not using the leaky one.

The landlord is a stubborn one, I don't want to risk bother asking that. He used to tell that he won;t rent it to me if I need lanudry machine.

Man 2200rmb for an apartment with all the facilities I want except the laundry machine. Just right in front of the subway station and 5 stops from the city center. That's a great price. I do not want to get kicked out. I betetr find a place to do my laundry.

2200 for an apartment WHERE YOU CANNOT WASH YOUR CLOTHES might not be such a good deal.

Indeed, what is your landlord thinking when saying this; "reason of electricity leaking" ??

Viki87:

Did not say, he's just a stubborn old guy. He just told he won't rent to me if I want laundry machine.

As Stiggs said, get an electrician to replace the wall outlet and to supply a plug in 'safety switch' [also know as 'RCD residual current device']

a few hundred yuan and a once off cost so that you can do your clothes washing.

when you move out you can take the plug in safety switch with you

truth is    I have a washer and a dryer......  my delightful wife often prefers to just wash and rinse by hand and then hang out on the balcony.....  SMART WOMAN  . It really is not that much effort      if you do it regular.

My clothes are cheap, I do not really need to be delicate about washing clothes by hands. Maybe your wife's clothes are expensive, so she cares.

I sometimes came back home late after work, I do not have that much engery to wash clothes regularly. I'll wash them on the weekend by hand or spend money to bring them to a self-help laundry shop(which will cost me around 50rmb). It is nothing related to be smart or not for choosing wash clothes by hand. It is just about your life priority, I do not want to spend much time on washing clothes while I can get a better rest after a day of work. I can save the time for studing and do business development, read a book, talk with friends, watch a movie.,etc.

lol.

Bring your mom to your apartment I'm sure she'll help you with the laundry and all your life problems that you can't deal with!

Coz you are a 30 yo baby. You don't need a washing machine, nor a guy, you need a mother!

I wash by hand in the lavatory basin.  It's easy.  Except when I wash my Levi's once every six months or so, they are kinda hard to wash, but most clothes, t-shirt, u/w, socks, etc. are very easy to wash.

And if you are worried that you must use a washing machine to look modern, advanced, affluent, etc.  don't worry about that.  I know rich girls in the US who would wash clothes in the basin, they said the washing machines were too destructive for their delicate clothes.

And for dress shirts, dress slacks, just bring them to the professional cleaners.  It's not very expensive and most clothing does not need to be cleaned every time you wear it.  Maybe wash after one wearing if you are out in sweaty Guangdong all day.

Viki87:

I like showering every night and change clothes. So it takes too much engry to wash them.

Oh no it costes a lot to take the clothes to cleaners in Shanghai
