use Apple maps and download Citymapper. When you get to New York buy a SIM card so you d got internet access

I saw the nearby station is the 23rd street subway station. The blue line on the map marked with ACE, so I am a bit confused. Can I have to just take line A to get to 23 street or I can take CE too? Does JFK has subway to go into Mahattan directly?

By the time you get through immigration (assuming it's your first stop in the US) and pick up any bags you have, it'll be midnight. Save yourself a lot of hassle and get a cab from the airport to your hostel.
