Q: Why are all passport photos heavily Photoshopped here?

And how is that acceptable?

When I last got passport photos taken for official purposes they got rid of my facial blemishes, smoothed out my frizzy hair and brightened my skin. I don't think such airbrushed photos would be accepted in the west.

When I had mine done he tried to remove a mole on my neck.  I was like "I don't think you can remove a mole"   and he was like "Oh, I couldn't tell it was a mole...."

He did the same with my skin, gave me a touch up and what not.

On a related note, I love how at some places they have suit or dress "templates" to put over your crappy day clothes. I've often thought about having a obnoxiously shiny Chinese suit photoshopped over my photo for my next passport
