I think a large part of it is the fact that females are more likely to learn English, and therefore are able to be tutors. Of course, another large part of it may be that most clients are going to be male as well, and therefore male Chinese may not be interested in the job. It may be looked down on, but I also think that most Chinese who get a side job teaching English teach in classes with children. These jobs are easy to find without having to seek out clients.

Feel my pain. My wife tells me to increase my Chinese knowledge. I can't learn with her because her patience and me being her husband just annoy's her. That and a three year old running around the room, on the walls, ceiling and where ever else he can put a footprint, it seems impossible. I go for a tutor and it's a female. I find a school and it's a female. AHHHHHHHHHHHH

Well.......Try to get one who is already married another foreigner. I am sure it must be easier for you.

Just consider the low payment to the Chinese tutor.I know many foreigners only want to pay 30-50 RMB/hour to a tutor.Since man in China has more pressure on earning money,how can this low payment be attractive enough to Chinese men? Most of my male classmates drop working as a Chinese tutor or teacher because of the low income.And more and more female teacher left for the same reason,and that`s why you can only find young college students or someone who take tutoring as a part-time job.

1- Girls would not feel comfortable with a male tutor.

2- Guys want a girlfriend.

Yeh find another foreigner that's married to a Chinese and just exchange your wives (for the teaching part)

I don't really see what the big deal is, it's not like you're required to have sex with your tutor. At least none of the ones I've ever heard of lol. Tell your girlfriend to chill out

I guess every woman will hate young femal tudor.Every man will hate handsome male tutor to his girlfriend too.
