Q: Why aren't playstation and Xbox game systems popular here?

Can't remember seeing any of these game systems at Walmart the last time I stopped by there. Why?

No why. Did you know the technical term for a small animated object in a computer game is a "sprite?"

99Silva:

Oh yeah I forgot you probably don't have these systems in your country either. You can't download an entire game system! LOL!

Well that is a fairly decent question, I am an Xbox owner and I think the obvious reason why they aren't so popular is because its not commonplace to go to a friends house here and hang out or play.  A more common activity would be meeting friends at a net bar to play on the computers

The real reason why is because they are officially banned in China.  Any non-Chinese consoles in China are grey market.  The government is currently considering lifting it, I have heard.

"Consoles have been banned in China since the year 2000,"

"The government thought that was the best way to protect Chinese youth from wasting their minds on video games, after a parental outcry."

because your chinese gov banned them , the real reson is because they can't make a decent copy of a game console yet so sony, nintendo and xbox would own the market. by hacking the xbox and selling game copies they can screw microsoft out of game revenue.

if it were really banned for the stated reasons you would not see it sold in the game shops or on taobao. the purpose of the ban is to deny the foreign companies the chinese market

I see what you have done. You wrote a series of questions today about how Western brands have been banned in China, but the technology stolen and inferior copies sold by Chinese counterfeiters.

I think you have raised a good point. China is as jealous as hell of western success, to commit these obvious crimes.
