Q: why cant i just pay for something and go?

i wanted to buy a cheap 150 kuai blender in my local supermarket.
first i had to tell one of the 3 woman standing around the aisle that i want the blender.
next she gives me i ticket that i take to one of the cashiers were i pay for the blender.
the cashier gives me another ticket that i take back to the first lady that gives me the blender.
then i have to go wait in line at the front check out counter to get my ticket stamped by the cashier there.

is all this really necessary? why cant i just take it to the front and pay it. like every other place in the world?
do people think that would be to simple a process and decided to make it needlesy complicated?

They do it to create employment. At Jinshanling, I had to buy a ticket to get through the turnstile. I give the ticket to the man standing at the turnstile, he punches it into the turnstile. I go through it.

The entire point of a turnstile is so you don't need to pay someone to stand there and take fucking tickets. Idiots.

But, they need to say "We have a low unempolment rate" despite the fact 20 per cent of the jobs are redundant

Sometimes I think management doesn't trust the employees with handling money. Maybe this distrust is justified. When i go to the market to buy something, I ask one of the staff to help me find an item. They never know! How can you work at a store and only know the location of items in your own department.? Don't they shop there also? Don't they get training? Usually I just find my own way. It's faster.

So, I think the purpose of the central cashier is to relieve the other employees from the "burden" of having to learn a new skill. And since paperwork is "God" in China, they must have everything stamped in triplicate.... Wink

At least in the US you can look at it put in your cart and buy it whit out feeling you are doing something wrong. I agree It does take all day to buy one big item.
