Q: Why Chinese have no respect for chubby women?

I've been in China for almost 2 years, and I have yet to find respect from people in the street. Yes, I pack a few extra pounds, but the food here is too delicious. Yes my skin may be a bit greasy, but it's all thanks to the oily food available in this country.

People look at me like like I ate their brothers and sisters, like I'm an ogre lurking to eat little kids. If I was like that I'd live in the USA where there are more fat kids by square miles!

I went into a downward spiral because i fell into a slight depression, started to eat more to feel better, but gained even more extra pounds.

Anybody here in the same situation as me or that can relate? How do you cope with all the hate for BBW?

They have no respect for "chubby" "fat" "obese" foreigners and they say DEPLORABLE things to them or about them that they would NEVER say to or about a Chinese that was of equal size. I think it's purely ignorance, cowardice and jealousy... I lean more towards a lack of class or culture with regard to the person talking. I combat this by pointing out ever flaw that person ever has as often as possible and only when there are LOTS of people around, pimples, cold sores, clothing, hair cuts, size of their ever so tiny tits, cheap phone, ANYTHING... Hey... when in Rome... Wink

It's culture. Chinese don't like fat people, girls never feel they r thin enough.
Even my mom, every time I go home my mom will say "u have to watch out, u gained a little weight I can tell." And every time when she calls me, she will ask "did u loss weight?" That's my mom!!! It's better that a stranger stares at me I won‘t care.
Gained 10 kilos in Germany, but feel totally ok, and in fact my friends told me I was more beautiful that way, came back to China lost that 10 kilos already, my mom is still not happy with it…… Crying
Stay away from home is the best I can do~

What u can do is put that face on, I eat with my money, that's none of ur business, f*** off!

If I heard a stick thin Chinese girl rant on about how fat she is I usualy just agree with her and go all "Yeah you're too fat, look at your arms, man you should just stop eating!"

I don't care if they ended up collapsing because not enough nutrition. At least the hospital can help them eat more and gain some weight.

You won't believe the amount of obese students at local schools, especially in Shanghai. To make matters worse they actually have the right to complain if they are continously forced to do a lot of physical execises or being verbally abused by pupils or teachers.

No offense, but some of us are unnaturally fat. So when the morbidly obese land in China (not saying you are), well it's normal for them to get stared at.

Conversely though, being an overweight Chinese guy will make you the most popular around. I taught for a little while and the fat guy in the class was always the source of endearing mockery. They were mascots.

Fat people here are subject to the different criteria of beauty. Just let it go, it's nothing.
