Q: Why do all these pandemic diseases originate in China?
SARS, various strains of bird flu, pig flu. Why China and not say, some other developing country in SE Asia or Africa or wherever? What makes China so special?

Africa does also, but I think based on percentages re a large population. China is densely populated with people, chickens, ducks, pigs, and other livestock. Wild birds and animals, also possible reservoirs for influenza, move around cities and rural areas as well. In this environment, the influenza virus has ample opportunity to mix and mingle with other strains. The chances are bigger that a stronger strain will develop in China than in other countries.

Kind of off topic, but IMO, I think science suggests that it's unlikely that HIV originated in Africa..
The population of people that is the longest exposed to something is the population of people that are most likely going to evolve an immunity to it.. The handful of people they found immune to HIV were from European descent. Those populations that don't have an immunity to it are the most likely to suffer the worst from it, and are also most likely to have had the least exposure to it over long period of time.
More likely, HIV was introduced to Africa fairly recently (within the last 500 years).

I think it's a combination of what was said above, and the overuse of antibiotics. Isn't that what causes super germs to proliferate?

the entire world learned a valuable lesson in hygiene from the black plague. but china continues to have people live amongst their filth ie. crapping anywhere.
one report i saw quoted a top official and said it was the USA fault.. Trying to make rank or save face I don't know which.
can you believe the water quality here? I was fishing (not to eat but for sport - I give it away) and i saw 2 dead pigs float down the small river. Using the wrong bait I guess. at least back home we try to clean up our act some.
I guess open sewers and methane will make you not care. Glad i smoke or I could never live here.
