Q: Why do foreigners, who have been in China less than one year, pretend to undrestand Chinese people?

The longer I am in China, the more I appreciate how much I do not know and understand and probably never will because I was not born here.

Wenna, you would love 'Merica, because you sure don't understand anything about it!

And Martin, it's like the Jerusalem syndrome. You get to a knew "exotic" place, so you believe you know everything about it, because you live there compared to the people back in your countary.

Plus you get the feeling of "understanding" the zen surrounding the culture... It's all a matter of perception

I thought I love America when I was in college, because I don't know the true American, and all friends from America were so nice, but the more I know I less I feel that way, especially recently I met so many American who r quite arrogant.
It's all about time, u will learn the truth.

Obviously my veiled attempt at humility was inadequate.

Let me more direct - some posters really need to stop pontificating about that which they really know little or nothing and try listening to the Chinese members. Stop telling them how ignorant they are. This only shows your lack of tolerance and patience.

Sorry to offend but what are friends for? If a friend can't tell you that you have bad breath, who can?
