Q: Why does the points system on this 'Answers' section change so frequently?

First it was 5 points per question, now it's 2 (although the explanation page still says 5), and answering a question used to earn you 3, now its 2, unless it's the first answer (which Njord and Nick Watson always vie for with an unfair and often unhelpful one-sentence response), and where did the 'Best Answer' feature go? That was great, I can't believe it's gone!

Hi Ludovico,

Just to answer your question, as Njord said - 5 points for simply posting a question felt like a bit much. However, the change to the vote system, where one vote equals one point, is a big haul up from what it used to be. We want to promote good answers. Every vote one of your answers gets, that's one more point for you.

We also intend to implement a thumbs down next to it, because we also realize sometimes it's nice to tell people their answers just weren't helpful at all Wink No point loss will be associated with thumbs down.

Best,

eChiancities Team

I would be in favour of a points loss with a thumbs down answer, It would be useful to let some members of the community know that their stories about back home are not useful or interesting in the slightest

Back in Montana, 'Merica, we had a similar point system when we had our shooting contests while Sandy would be smoking ribs. It was really interresting, we would make points depending on the distance we hit the cans of PBS. And let me tell you, I was quite the marksman with Laura, my trusted .22 calibre rifle. The winner would be allowed to take the first bite of Sandy's ribs and whenever I won, I would make them drool at the ribs while I enjoyed my victory dance. Sandy would regularly check on the score so when I was leading, she would tell call us 20minutes before the ribs are done, so by the time I finished my victory dance, the ribs would be perfect!

I really miss Montana, 'Merica, but I'll get a taste of back home when Baylee-Ann arrives next friday! Oh I can't wait for the fun it's going to be!!!
