To me, all bottled and boiled tap water tastes bad, no matter what country i am in. I don't even want to think about what might be in the tap water here before it is boiled.

You should try some places in or close by the Alps then.

actually i just did a small research before purchasing a water depuration system via ebay. It seems that you absorb even more clorine when you take a shower, especially hot shower. Clorine that goes trough your skin....besides, by boiling the water you might kill the bacteria but heavy metals still....

Sadly it is a real worry here and one of the reasons I am contemplating leaving in the near future.

I found Chinese tap water and the big bottles of water that I had delivered had a bitter taste. I always suspected they were the same. At home my well water has no taste.

The small bottled water in China has a sweet taste, I think something is added to make it sweet. This is why I make my tea in China using beer. The beer is tasteless.

Boiled tap water tastes funny indeed (tested in Suzhou, Hefei, Kunming). My wife does not even feel the taste to the water, so maybe it's an acquired taste, ie. me being used of the water from back home. I buy Nongfu water, tastes ok and it's cheap.
