Q: Why don't blind people have guide dogs?

Seen a lot of blind people in China, not one with a guide dog. Is it too expensive?

Having a dog is still considered a luxury. People here barely train their dogs, I don't think there is anyone qualified to train a dog for the blind.

It is expensive, the guide dog is quite different from pet dog...

There r a lot people have dogs now as pet, but guide dog is just need more time to train and also u keep them in different way, more like a human being than just a pet.

it costs at least 60,000 rmb to train a guide dog where im from, we have an annual charity appeal to help with the funds, but still thats not enough even in western countries alot of blind people still don't have a guide dog , most make use with the cane, so i would say expense.

In China, there are guides on the sidewalks. You know the raised tiles? They are there for blind people.

As for dogs, I don't think China has reached the level of understanding service animals. Just look at how most people treat their "pets".
