If some nutcase or drunk is stabbing people, they have to wait for Wujin or an armed back-up to arrive which takes about 20-30 minutes (depending on traffic) and by that time a few people can be dead.
You can speed up the process if you carry a sign with "64" on it.
It's a cheat code, don't repeat it.

Here are a couple of reasons why... some idiots can't be trusted with anything more deadly than their breath.
From what I've seen it takes at least 50 police to respond to a small call, they might shoot each other. Why can't just two cops go with blly clubs?

Where I am they carry one metre long solid aluminium 'night sticks'....they do the job. Only the more senior police carry guns. Usually .22 revolvers.
They'd maybe try and jump start a car, ebike or even your heart with the taser. They can hardly find the time to lift a pencil.
For those that do not know, in China, there are different types of Police forces, with duties well defined. For example, those Policeman and Policewoman who deals with traffic, signal lights, violations and ticket issuing are known as Traffic Police, and do not carry guns, sticks, mace, or even handcuffs.
About a year ago, when someone fired an air gun and put three shots into my bedroom window, my GF called the local Police Station. Within 30 minutes there were about 7 or 8 cops at my place, all with sidearms. While two interrogated my GF and me, the rest got some strings and traced bullet paths between window holes and marks on wall. Aimed a laser along the string and got a window on a building about one block away. They left, and came back later with one teen, and air rifle, and a question about cost of repairing damages, the kid father was forced to pay.
I have never seen Police with rifles or shotguns, I feel those are reserved for Arm Forces only.

Indeed, there are local Police and there are the Armed Police. I would not want to get involved with the Armed Polce, that`s for sure. I believe the fire service are a branch of the Armed Police too.
