Q: Would you move to Taiwan?

Would any of you move to Taiwan? Would any of you NOT move there? Does it have any negatives?

Hmmm lets see.

No spitting

No honking

No cars driving against one way streets on the bike paths

No cheating taxi drivers

No fake food

No Great Firewall

In a one to one comparison with China, Taiwan seems a winner on all counts.

Mmmm, I've had numerous Job offers from Taiwan, but Shenzhen for me is a lot more better...Hong Kong is also great and I love being able to travel to wonderful places in China with a click of an app. Sorry no to Taiwan.. not saying there are any negatives, just saying I'm happy where I'm at..

I would think single guys would love Taiwan.

Englteachted:

What are you trying to say about Taiwanese women that is not true of Chinese women?

Typical backwards thinking.

I have a friend living in Taiwan right now. She says it's like Mainland China, but without the BCDs, constant craziness and government lunacy. And people are clean, etc.

Yes I pucking would.

I think its more difficult to get a job there. I couchsurfed in Taiwan for a week, in Tainan I stayed with a girl whose bf is English, his friend was there too. The friend ended up going to Shanghai, he couldn't find anything. Well, I guess Taipei might be different...Non-natives work at kindergartens there though, so I'm not doing it. indecision

The Taiwanese people on my island can get pretty fanatical when it comes to independence which can get annoying unlike the Tibetans who are pretty resigned but they do through some good parties plus much more organized and pro America, so yaw but not for the rest of my life.

taiwan citizens dont need a visa to travel to america anymore, no paperwork if you marry a chinese lady, just file paperwork in america after she arrives
another problem, taiwan is a developed country, so age discrimination is rampant, if your over 40 trying to teach in taiwan is going to be a tough nut to crack.

Iron_Monkey:

Yup, not only can Taiwanese travel abroad a hundred times easier than mainland citizens, they are also allowed dual+ citizenship so there's no conflict of interest if you marry one since she/he can apply for citizenship in your country without having to give up citizenship in her/his home country.

My parents are from Taiwan, and I go back every Xmas ready for Chinese new year from Australia. Now i am in China with my boyfriend, I much more prefer Taiwan, the cleanliness, the convenience of travelling and the food! I can eat without worrying if its made of rat or soy sauce made out of hair. Plus I won't have the police stealing my dog and making me pay for it back.
