Q: Yet Another Visa Question
I hold an US passport that expires in June 2012, I have a Chinese Visa for multi that is good til April 2012. So far so good.
Now, I heard that I will not be granted entry if my passport has less than 6 months on it. Eventhough my visa is good til April?
I assume I can get a new passport through the consulate in China but do I need to go back to the states for a new visa? Can I get one through visa agency in SZ or in HK? I am leaving for SZ and I can stay HK for short run with minimum costs.

They wont issue a visa if your passport has less than 6 months on it but if you have a visa they will allow you in.
You can contact me if you need to do a HK run i done it.and know some cheap places to stay.
you needn't get a new visa . you can get a newpassport from us consulate. when your visa expires( its resident permit ) expires ,you can extend it from public security bureau in any chinese city .
I had the same problem last year. I ended up getting a brand new passport and the lady at the public security bureau said that my visa in my old passport is still valid and that there's no need to transfer it into the new one. She told me to just bring both passports when travelling. When my visa ran out I went to Hong Kong with both the new passport (with no visa in it) and my old expired passport with the visa. They looked at me strangely at Customs and hesitated to let me through for a while, but eventually it was fine and I ended getting a brand new visa in my new passport.
