Hello everyone. I hope that my question will be answered.
Let me explain my situation. I am 20 years (will be 21 this autumn) and I am from Ukraine. Currently I am looking for a job in China with my girlfriend. We would like to apply as couple and work together as well.
There are many discussions regarding visa things on the web and I am not really sure which one is true or false. I know that visa rules are different for different countries. I have some people who have been working in China having F visa, but it's illegally and we don't want to work like that.
I know that SAFEA requires 2 years post-graduate working experience and they prefer native speakers.
SO, can we get Z visa if we have:
- 2,5 years of official English teaching experience in work-book
- BA degree
- TESOL/TEFL certificate
- medical checkup done
One of the schools offered us a good position and they assure that can handle Z visa for us. They have some good relations with bureau. What do you think about that?
In addition to this, I found such information on the Internet:
The guidelines state that a "foreign educational expert," or teacher, "should hold a minimum of a bachelor's degree and more than two years of experience." The work experience does not necessarily have to be in the field of education, but can be in any area deemed appropriate or relevant by the prospective employer. As the SAFEA guideline uses the Chinese character for the word "should," instead of "must have" or "needs to have," there has been a great deal of "flexible" interpretation across provinces regarding the minimum educational requirement over the years. While a bachelor's degree is generally regarded as the de facto minimum educational requirement to legally teach in China, this currently appears to be the exception instead of the rule—although there are many anecdotal reports that this is gradually changing. Certainly, the better paying and more satisfying jobs would only be available to those with a minimum of a bachelor's degree, and, more likely than not, prior teaching experience in one's native country. However keep in mind that the SAFEA regulations are strictly advisory and that each province, autonomous region, and municipality is free to adopt their own rules and procedures for issuing foreign expert certificates and residency permits.

Who knows? Give it a shot if your dream is to be a TEFL teacher in China. You sound intelligent so hopefully they'll give you a visa. Only problem is I think they enacted the 2 year requirement as they wanted to avoid having people around 20 years of age, the 2 year requirement of post-university work means the youngest age of applicants is around 23.
Get your Z visa before you come to China. Make no exceptions about that.
