Q: Anybody has unpaid salary or outstanding bills with Helen Group?

As I posted few times, I try to get my last salary (October 2012) from Helen Group in Hangzhou with help of Government Agencies in Hangzhou, Zhejiang.

Last week, I came across very useful and effective contact at Zhejiang Administration of Foreign Affairs:

Mr. Zhang Chenyi

0571-87051076

Mr. Xi Tangping

0571-87052536

I spoke to Mr. Zhang on two occasions, who is fluent English speaker, and if somebody wants quick solution of unsolved problems with Helen Group, feel free to contact him.

As he told me this morning, him and his leader told Helen Group managers last week to post salary for October 2012 to my Bank account ASAP.

Contrary to their instructions, Helen sent me new email yesterday, where they instructed me, 'I must come to their Hangzhou office in order to receive my salary'. Helen Group will also refund one-way hard sleeper train ticket.surprise

Mr. Zhang asked me to forward him Helen's email this morning.

I will collect web links with comments and complains of English teachers against Helen Group, and will forward them to Mr. Zhang for 'afternoon' read.

Man, that school is on every black list out there. Why would you even take a job with those shysters?

You got an exceptionally good result, considering you are an illegal and unskilled teacher.  Four months is not a quick result, and it sounds like the fight isn't over yet. Hopefully you will get it. I dislike cheating schools and agents more than I dislike cheating teachers.

Hangzhou authorities also helped me out much more than I expected. The school cheated me for about 1500 Yuan, and they had to pay two months salary (no work) and two months rent while I looked for another job. They also had to pay a return air ticket to Australia so I could get another Z visa when I found a new job. And the 1500 Yuan they cheated me.

I am happy to see you will get paid.

However, I'm very suspicious of the requirement for you to appear in her office for your pay.  I can imagine various nefarious reasons for this requirement. For example, upon arrival they inform you that you owe them X,XXX RMB which they conveniently deducted from the amount owed to you.

What could be easier than a bank transfer?

As far as Helen and why she still does business, there remain a few posters on another website who still recommend her website, which I feel is merely a gateway to direct involvement with her minions, and she advertises on the internet.

I don't care if you're legally qualified or not, you should be paid for the work you do.

Ah well. I hope you get your dough.

Zhejiang Foreign Expert Bureau has stopped issuing Foreign Expert Certificates to teachers employed by Helen Group, according to Mr. Zhang this morning.

No traces of my October salary, yet.

My reply to Helen Group:

My SPD Bank card, opened in Hangzhou is still in use. It is the same SPD Bank card as you deposited last salary in September 2012.

You can deposit October 2012 salary and payment for 3 weeks Medical leave in November to the same SPD Bank card.

Helen Group or other staffing agencies in China, which don't respect Contract or cheat Foreign teachers in any other way are good, if you know how to take advantage of it. I will open new tread in few days about my 'positive' experience with Helen Group.

A:Going to HK would be the best bet I reckon, especially if you were looking for a church wedding. Chinese weddings are pretty grim IMO - you go to a barren govt dept with souless officials and navigate red tape so some guy can give you a red stamp and a marriage book. You get expensive pictures taken of you both posing in places you'd never go to in everyday life that is somehow supposed to represent your wedding, then a while later it's off to a restaurant where a game show host kind of guy makes sure it's as tacky as possible while the guests eat as fast as they can so they can leave as soon as they finish eating and gave you money. Hell, I'd go to Thailand or the Philippines and get married in Paradise.   -- Stiggs
