Q: Are Chinese women "traditional" ? Or closet Nudists?
I have never seen a place with more accidental nudity.
Dont women know that if your going to wear a mini skirt and shop all day there are going to be escalators? Do they not know how angles work? Or do they not care?
Didnt their mothers and/ or grandmothers teach them to sit like a lady? If I see one more old aunty spread eagle on the subway im going to freak out. Not cool Ayi , not cool.
Heres a tip ladies. YOU DONT HAVE BOOBS! YOUR BRA IS JUST WINDOW DRESSING! When you bend over and not even consider there are people around everyone has a pretty damn clear view.
Perhaps an argument can be made for mothers breast feeding, although I do not know what that argument is. But when your finished? Put the damn tit away!
Another Tip! You can see through glass! Its not a wall. So perhaps dont walk around naked at night with your lights on and the windows open? I have seen it at least 20 times, and 2 could be considered pleasant. The others? traumatic. I have porn anytime I open up Baidu. So 2 out of 20 is not worth the odds in my books.
So this is the part where it gets confusing. Your in China! The most populated country in the world! You have spent your whole life getting used to having people everywhere!
Do they know? If you turned around on that escalator and saw 30 guys all staring up your skirt, would you be happy? would you brush it off? Or be horrified?
When your breast feeding, do you really truly not noticed that all of the creepy old guys in the park have stopped walking when they get in your vicinity? They dont really try to hide it. Its pretty blatant staring.
Is there an answer to this at all? Are they really that dumb? Dont get me wrong, Chinese are dumber than dumb. But I find it hard to imagine anyone could be THAT dumb and still function.
When I asked my female students about the latest trends in China they all agreed that the less clothes the better. Its just a trend I think(the mini skirts and stuff).
I come home to one of my flatmates sweeping the floor in his tiny worn out briefs more times than I could count, saggy balls hanging and everything (he's kinda old) he doesn't even seem to notice I'm there...so I get on with the program and accept that this is what happens in my apartment now.
I don't know, you're entitled to your opinion but try to figure out where the anger you feel towards the people you're describing comes from... what is it about the human body that has you so worked up?

lol @Nessquick I actually actively searched for a shared apartment, and not with just anyone, I really wanted to live with what in my opinion is the average people in China(I could be biased). Almost a year now and its been so much fun, old people, young people, babies,couples, singles, families have come and gone, I can't imagine living by myself and missing out on all those/these experiences... but yeah, I don't plan to live like this forever
Less experience of clothing, thus less acquired behaviors through generations.
Back in the 70's, it was the same costume from the state shop for everyone. So the young girls have their mom as examples : women who don't have 50 years of experience about wearing "those" clothes. So yeah, for example, women wear short skirts and won't have the reflex to cross her legs, unlike back home. I think those behaviors are learned from older women in the social circle of a little girl.
Also, maybe, I just say maybe, people here don't go apeshit over the accidental boob or underpants occurrence. I prefer to see boobs and pubic hairs over gratuitous violence, guns, etc.
Maybe they didn't grow up with men yelling and cat calling them in the street every time they wore a short skirt, like in a lot of other countries, so they are less self conscious...also perhaps when people are bending over and getting undressed in their houses you could look away?

Perhaps, but perhaps... men just don't pay attention to women in China. Most women I know here are pretty sexually frustrated and neglected or ignored.
I find most men in China aren't really that interested in women... maybe due to testosterone levels or maybe it is because families prefer boys... or whatever... but men seem more feminine themselves.

Actually this is because getting laid in China due to number of hookers is a simple financial exchange with no loss to the male ego. Therefore men don't need to be macho to be a player, but simply rich.
-A few Chinese men will be screwing all the girls at my university, while the majority play pool, chain smoke, and go to PC bangs...and wonder why they are single. Meanwhile girls throw themselves at the few "active" men while keeping a glasses wearing wealthy chump on the side. Amorality a la Mao+patriarchy+face saving hypocriscy.
No boobs for the most of them indeed, but some have, my current girlfriend wears a Chinese G-cup, big round melons, the equivalent of a American E-cup, and she's as slim as slim can be. My ex wears a Chinese B-cup, otherwise said flatter than a dude, but she has a nice bottom.

I think the main reason is they just aren't used to living in apartments with easy viewing access (they used to live in small houses that were like military compounds). They aren't used to western style clothing and they don't understand all the angles.
They can barely form a line... Chinese are... what they are... lol They have been tossed from like 1950 to the year 2000 in one quick swoop. WAY too much for their minds. I kind of pity them... no amount of money will buy someone class and it seems like most won't have any sort of class for at least another 50 years... until then the entire world will STILL look down on them... and all the while they are thinking "What's wrong with these foreigners, China has money now, we are stronger now... but they still laugh at us! What's wrong with them!?"
I don't think the local men notice at all. Seems to me they're oblivious to most things, women included.
I, however, do notice. The way a lot of Chinese women present themselves provides a breath of fresh air into what is most of the time nothing other than a hellhole.
So girls, keep it up!

Hahaha Royce , you are obviously much luckier than I for like I said the fast majority are 45 year old ladies coming home from work on the subway or something spread eagle on the bench. While I now have to awkwardly stare at my feel. Please god noooooooooooooo!
Totally agree with Royce that Chinese women should carry on wearing short skirts & shorts! I love the spring to autumn in Guangzhou when the winter clothes come off & the women show off their legs un-self consciously :-)
a lot brighter than when walking round Manchester on a cold & wet summers day!
As an aside to what women wear in the street how do you find your wives behaviour in the home? My ex (English) wife didn't like that I walked round our house naked in the UK whereas my wife now has no qualms about walking round our apartment with nothing on.

Maybe they are simply not so inhibited and realize that 500,000,000 other Chinese girls have the same equipment and maybe this makes their's "nothing special". Then again they could be 29 years old, single, and are desperate for a guy like you to call "hubby"!

Decency in china is not well taught. At a middle school where i taught , I had a student open her shirt and start stuffing her bra in class. I had the TA deal with it, she said it was normal behavior , I ended up explaining my actions to several higher ups on why I did what I did, I was thanked for being concerned , but let go a week later. Even on the bus, girls sit across from you wearing barely enough to keep covered . It is a mentality to dress sexy to get a good man , but end up getting themselves hurt in the long run.
My wife is still pretty traditional.. She dresses super conservatively and refuses to wear a bikini swimming. A lot of Chinese girls aren't like that, though. It depends on the individual, I guess.

Have you noticed though, they hardly have much of their top half on display. Shoulders and upper arms are usually covered. Legs seem like fair game though, I mean christ, I see so much leg every day, but its always a lot more covered up top. Maybe they know their assets and are just proudly showing it off. Also from my and some friends experience here, foreign girls get a lot more attention when wearing short skirts/dresses than Chinese girls from the Chinese guys. Why? I mean, they do tend to have the better legs and figures. Ah whatever. Let's all go nude this summer.

Yea, this tallies with my experience. My Chinese female friends would have no qualms about dressing in what was, to all intents, two pairs of underpants with CFM boots below... but shoulders were considered slutty! Huh???
