Q: Are mosquitoes worse this year?
Anyone notice that mosquitoes are more vicious this year? I woke up this morning with like twenty bites! Ridiculous! I have the mosquito nets on the windows, but they don't seem to be doing any good. Also the bites seem more painful. Is it a Kunming thing? I have just moved from Hebei to Kunming and the mosquitoes here seem 10 x more aggressive!

could it be that you are just so attractive to them? Seriously, do you use anything else other the nets on the windows? I always use as many preventative measures as possible, apart from the fact that each summer is different and this year seems to be hotter and damper in many places ! Good luck and eat more garlic !
Most mosquitoes enter your house by hitchhiking on your clothes or your guests. They also like to wait in the hallway outside your door until you open it. I love hunting mosquitoes so I get pleasure from waiting for them to attack. The rest of you should just use the mosquito lotion. It's very effective.
No their all the same. Once they start buzzing around my ear trying to be like that character in that book 'incognito mosquito' they get squashed like the bugs they are.
Mosquitoes are attracted by our scents and gases, carbon dioxide, body odour, lactic acid secretion etc. Some people really are more attractive to mosies than others. Washing regularly helps, some repellents mask us. Wear light coloured clothing, they use colour to detect.
Natural repellents:
- Citronella Oil
- Lemon Eucalyptus Oil
- Cinnamon Oil
- Castor Oil
- Rosemary Oil
- Lemongrass Oil
- Cedar Oil
- Peppermint Oil
- Clove Oil
- Geranium Oil
- Possibly Oils from Verbena, Pennyroyal, Lavender, Pine, Cajeput, Basil, Thyme, Allspice, Soybean, and Garlic
Oh yes, they are much worse this year.
With global warming, er, I mean, "climate change" they now are much bigger and much more aggressive.
In Hainan Island, a foreigner went camping. He did not have a mosquito net. When his friends tried to wake him the next day, he looked like a big pink raisin. All the blood had been sucked out of him that night. The cause? Killer Climate Change Mosquitos!!
Cave Culiseta!!!
They refused to bite me for the longest time. Then I went and stayed at the in-laws... got bitten so bad at night, I woke up with dozens of welts and I was itching so damn bad. Then they started leaving me alone again...
I think I have malaria.
I first visited China in 2001. I spent six months in Nanning in southern China. The mosquitoes were unbelievable. They were very small compared to the ones I have encountered in the past. But they are vicious little buggers. twelve years later I can still see their bit marks on my tummy. Many of the Chinese children had bits all over their legs. I suggested a mosquito abatement program to one of the local officials and you would think I had suggested a nuclear attack on China? Nanning is surrounded by small ponds and lakes to breed fish which probably contributes to the mosquito problem. But Malethion would be a big help.
Yes, in Thailand there is also an epidemic of dengue fever this year. Be careful!
Watch out for punkies. They are 10 times smaller than mosquitos in size but the bites are also 10 times more itching than mosquitos'
I really want to move this things to India. As compare to last years, this time is very very few Mosqitos

Don't you attract more flies than mosquitoes?
