There's a chance they might need to wait a few months in there until the water subsides after the monsoon season.

God, that would really suck but at least they now have people sending in food etc while they come up with a plan.

philbravery:

Yep their health can be managed till a extraction plan can be put into place....they were talking about digging a shaft .. Apparently they are 4km from the entrance of the cave. ..thats a bloody long way above ground

Yeah it's either dig them out or teach kids who can't even swim to dive through some very narrow, difficult tunnels that it took expert divers to get into.

They might just have to get comfortable there...

Good news. It's a lesson to always carry a lot of water with you when you go on these sorts of adventures. You never know when this sort of thing can happen to you.

Reminds me of going in caves with my dad in the Ozarks up in Arkansas,,,  we were such idiots,,, totally casual and unprepared.  Looking back just lucky that fortune was on our side.  Fast-forward a few years and I'm out running around Philippines with my gf,,, we went on one of those 'Cave tours', think it was Bohol,,, can't remember.   I walk in about 10 meters and then just this feeling came over me and I told her No fkn way I'm doing this, turned around and walked out.  I'm claustro and every other bad feeling one gets stuck in a fkn cave.  She went ahead and done the tour though,,, haha,,, ballsy'er than me!

Honestly, I figured those kids were done for.  what was it, like a week?  Amazed to the extreme that they got outta that jam.

I read somewhere they had signs at the cave entrance telling people not to go in, because of the flooding danger but they obviously ignored those.

I suppose they're - or rather the teacher in charge - is the type of guy who disregards the signs at the zoo saying don't climb into the tiger enclosure and when driving passes cars on the double yellow lines.

Luckily it wasn't  a miracle, just dogged persistence by skilled searchers. If it was a miracle, the poor bastards would have to spend the next 2000 years worshiping  them instead  of just saying "Thanks a lot mate".

Next year they should go snow skiing in July and celebrate global warming, better than drowning in muddy water.

For those who Dive...is there a capsule they could put a kid in and tow it out ?
Just thinking out loud

Stiggs:

I saw a thing on the news earlier... they're looking at doing exactly that. Well, almost.

I don't know if it's the final plan but there is talk of putting each kid on a sled type thing with an air supply attached and towing them out. They will need to widen parts of the tunnel to do that. Apparantly the divers going in need to take off their gear to get through the narrow parts of the tunnel.

In the mean time they're giving the kids a crash course in swimming and diving.

Did they fire the adults responsible for that trip yet?

From what I understand, that would be the coach who is in there with them.

This cave is a 'magnet' foradventurous teenagers, it seems. But what was on the coach's mind when he approved and led/followed them in there? I shudder to think what they were up to in that cave..

One of the divers has died coming back out. Poor guy, I can't imagine how scary it must have been to run out of air in a dark, narrow tunnel.

RIP to the man.

I wonder if this will mean the kids end up staying there for as long as it takes for the water to subside.

Divers Free 4 More Boys From Thai Cave, Bringing Total To 8

Officials said Sunday that it will likely take days to free all 12 boys and their coach from the cave, where they are trapped on a muddy ledge 2.5 miles inside a winding cave network that features a "choke point" roughly 15 inches wide that's nearly impossible to navigate with oxygen tanks. Rescuers are scrambling to complete the rescue mission before rains in the forecast flood the cave even further. Five boys and their coach remain stuck inside the cave.

The 12 boys, who are part of a soccer team known as the Wild Boars, first went missing more than two weeks ago following an initiation ritual gone horribly wrong. They were discovered roughly one week ago by two British volunteer divers, who found them huddled along a narrow rock shelf deep inside the cave system. Authorities have refused to release names to the media.

Answer of the DayMORE >>
A: In my personal experience, teaching certificates have varied in releva
A:In my personal experience, teaching certificates have varied in relevance depending on the context and location. Here's a breakdown of each aspect:a) Getting the teaching job: Teaching certificates can certainly enhance your chances of securing a teaching position, especially in formal educational settings such as schools and language institutions. Many employers prefer candidates who have undergone specific training in pedagogy and instructional techniques, which these certificates often provide. However, other factors such as experience, references, and the demand for teachers in a particular area also play significant roles in the hiring process.b) Getting a higher salary than your uncertified competitors: In some cases, holding a teaching certificate can indeed lead to a higher salary compared to uncertified competitors. Many educational institutions have structured salary scales that take into account factors such as level of education, years of experience, and additional certifications. Holding a teaching certificate may place you in a higher salary bracket or make you eligible for certain salary incentives or bonuses. However, this can vary widely depending on the specific policies of the institution or organization.c) Getting promotions: Teaching certificates can be beneficial for career advancement and securing promotions within the field of education. They demonstrate a commitment to professional development and mastery of teaching skills, which are qualities that many employers value when considering candidates for leadership positions or administrative roles. Additionally, some promotions may require specific certifications or qualifications, making holding a teaching certificate essential for advancement in certain cases.Regarding which certificate yields better results, it largely depends on the specific requirements of the job market and the educational context in which you intend to work. For example:A Postgraduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) is often highly regarded in formal school settings and can be advantageous for those seeking positions in primary or secondary education.Montessori certification is valuable for individuals interested in working in Montessori schools or implementing Montessori principles in their teaching approach.A Teaching English as a Foreign Language (TEFL) certificate is particularly relevant for those seeking to teach English to non-native speakers in international contexts or language schools.Ultimately, the best certificate for you will depend on your career goals, the specific requirements of the positions you're interested in, and the preferences of potential employers in your target job market. It's essential to research the requirements and preferences of employers in your desired field and tailor your qualifications accordingly. -- ruqaiya761
