there are no rules in China, I think its the new Wild West, the Chinese are all outlaws. On city buses no bikes, can barely get on and sumtimes not at all, hiway buses would probably take anyting you got, even yo momma

It depends on the mood of the guards on the day you travel.

Sometimes the guy who happily waves you by for weeks on end, will suddenly decide to tear you a new one.

GuilinRaf:

1- Take a taxi.

2- Take a bus.

3- Take a pedicab.

4- Walk.

5- Beg some kind stranger for a piggyback ride.

Jiliu he, are you living in China or what? I remember you once said in one of the posts here you want to come to China to find a job in summer.

They hardly have the room to fit anymore people on the bus let alone a bicycle. Although in Shanghai, I saw a bus that you could put them on a rack in the back of the bus.

Jiliu

I understand what your are asking and why

we have a similar system here where you put up to 4 bikes up on the front of a bus.

But China is nothing that you are trying to imagine.

before you come to China

You need to set up a place to to stay

read the packing suggestions we posted the other day

and keep an open mind .

when you leave the airport take a deep breath

second thought don't do that the pollution will kill you.

take a moment to get your thoughts then

try not to talk for a few hours just let your mind absorb the new planet you have come to

please make sure that you have some one you can stay with that can give you some guidance .

Even I had some help the first time I went to China and I have been to some very different places in my life.

Take care

I seen the driver chase a kid away once for trying.

Prams seem ok though.

China has rental bicycles in every main city area. You use your phone and go to wherever the bikes are locked and parked and use Alipay and scan the code on the bicycle. It's then unlocked and you ride the bike to ever you want to go. When you get to your destination you park the bike and scan it again to pay for it. It's very simple. You can buy your own bicycle but as I remember buses don't carry you bike. You can also rent very small cars doing the same thing. You go to where the cars are parked (many parked on the sidewalks), scan the code on the car using Alipay and you get in the unlocked car and drive to in the city to wherever you need to go. Near your destination you find a drop off point and park the car and scan it again to pay for the use of the car.

Thanks! That was really enlightening about the bikes in China ...

It never occurred to you the Q you replied is nearly 10-years old, did it?

I'm just saying ...

A:It happened to me, once ... in 2014 or 15 ...Plane from RP city (Tianjin) had more than 10h delay and I came to the HK's exit Luohu some 7 hours after the RP expiration date.In real, I came to the exit crossing just on time or only an hour late, but Luohu is closed overnight (10pm - 6am), which I didn't know. There were two unexpected things happened at that exit: flight's delay with closed Luohu overnight on the topI had a decent and real excuse for the cops next morning, but still I was put in a side office for some 3 or 4h and then cops had a short lecture with '.. and make sure, it will never happened again! ..', and I was let go without anything on my record. At least, at the new Z visa application and following reentry to China nobody ever mentioned anything about the delayed exit. However, I had a bad, un-eased feeling at the following Z visa appearance in Wanchai ...It is much, much wiser and safer to exit at least a day or even a few days ahead of the RP expiration date. -- icnif77
