I used to read the Chinadaily for a while, just to see things from the China perspective, then I couldn't stomach it anymore. That paper is complete bull shiz.

Articles like this one make me think of that story about the emperor's new clothes, and I really think now that Chinese people - or a lot of them at least need and want to hear stories like this constantly, regardless of the facts. It's something in the local psyche maybe.

This has happened a couple of times now... I'll hear a song somewhere, radio or playing in a supermarket or whatever and it'll be a rehashed Western song from the 80s with maybe a techno beat and some Chinese lyrics thrown in.

When I say "hey, I know this song - I used to bop along to it when I was a teenager" literally nobody will believe me.

"That can't be - it's new on the Chinese charts. It's a Chinese song. Why would NZ copy a Chinese song?"

The last time this happened I pulled the song up on youtube to show the girls in the office and there was the title with the name, year, guys with mullets etc singing it - and although nobody actually said as much because obvious is obvious and they just wouldn't have a valid argument I'm sure they were all closing off the logical part of the brain that processes things like facts and truth and thinking ... nope.

It's a Chinese song. (and fuck off with your alternative facts foreign boy).

China with 1.4 B residents can claim many things  between their residents.

They don't care for outsiders customs and sentiment. So, why should we care?

P.S.

I'll get pumped up at Chinese claim of  breast mammaplasty ...

"...mammaplasty, is a procedure to remove excess breast fat, glandular tissue and skin to achieve a size more in proportion with your body   and to alleviate the discomfort associated with excessively large breasts (macromastia)."

I could be MD .... 'c&p MD' surprise

This is last year stuff. You forgot to add they invented pizza, sphagetti, and modern humans.

But they might have a point with modern humans.

I was reading somewhere recently that the out of africa scenario might be in doubt. Something to do with a supervolcano in Indonesia. Not sure how it works.. Ancestors leave africa, go east and west, volcano explodes.. only eastern humans left.

I come across this while looking for places on google earth to go fishing in indonesia for big fish.

This.

We are all familiar with the Party encouraging scientists to find evidence that Chinese are a seperate species. Going by this idea, maybe the only survivors were here.

China did not invented all of these. China replicate its all and make it better for user experience.

China did invent the high speed rail though? Also they were the first to do the mobile payments?

Also I'm pretty sure that kung fu panda was directed by a Chinese man

A:Going to HK would be the best bet I reckon, especially if you were looking for a church wedding. Chinese weddings are pretty grim IMO - you go to a barren govt dept with souless officials and navigate red tape so some guy can give you a red stamp and a marriage book. You get expensive pictures taken of you both posing in places you'd never go to in everyday life that is somehow supposed to represent your wedding, then a while later it's off to a restaurant where a game show host kind of guy makes sure it's as tacky as possible while the guests eat as fast as they can so they can leave as soon as they finish eating and gave you money. Hell, I'd go to Thailand or the Philippines and get married in Paradise.   -- Stiggs
