Q: Is China investing in sports only to be first in the Olympics?

Is it just the Olympic sports China's promoting and developing? Is it just so they can end up number 1 in the final listings?

To be the nation that has more Olympic medals, or more gold medals in specific is the goal of many nations that do participate there.  While the goal of the Olympic Games is to create friendship thru participation, the goal of nations participating, and of many athletes competing  is to win, for political or economic reasons.

In many ways it has become a business, instead of a game.

Well that's the main objective to get first place. So any country will be investing their time in money into developing the best team they can.

Seems so, China wants to promote its image as a sporting nation, a nation of super athletes, but they can start by investing more in sports grounds opened to the public, or open up their schools to enable people to use the existing facilities....or......
