Q: China Unicom redirecting eChinaCities. You too ?

Since this morning, my workplace ISP, China Unicom, is redirecting eChinaCities address to their shitty portal page. Is it only me, or anybody using China Unicom have this issue ?

PS : change your DNS to Google DNS (8.8.8.8, 8.8.4.4), problem solved.

You sure this is not a early "you have not paid" warning ? China Telecom did that to me at some point.

Most probably they are redirecting their because you may have not paid the bill yet. They charge on 1st of each month for the whole month.

DrMonkey:

Well, it all works as usual, I can access Baidu or Weibo, for instance. But now, there are more sites than usual that are redirected, most notably, eChinaCities.

If I change from the ISP's DNS to some free DNS (say, OpenDNS or Google DNS), I can access eChinaCities without any problem. It's at my company, and they paid their Internet bill as usual.
