Q: Is color coordination ever paid attention in China?

Yesterday afternoon, while riding a bus, a young lady climbed in and stood next to my seat.  I could not help but watching her, because she looked like a rainbow.....
She had gray boots, a blue jean, a rose blouse, a lavander sweater, a light blue hjacket, a red scarf, a black hat on her head, white gloves and a yellow purse.
Also, a chinese friend, when invited me to dinner, had as dinner plates quite a variety of colors and patterns, no two were alike.  My impression was that he picked the shape wanted, at the lower cost, no matter color or pattern.  Also his WC has quite an assorted variety of different colors and patterns in towels.
Is that a common occurence in China?.  Does anyone pays any attention to color coordination?.  Or is it me not being "practical" and insisting for color matches ?.
My GF thinks I am crazy and waste money in buying things with colors that will match existing ones already at home, is that normal here?

Most people do have color coordination in China. The main colors being black. You can occasionally catch people that look like the rainbow, but its a rare find to me. The teenagers would most likely look like the rainbow since it's probably their parents that are buying their clothes for them.

Or the "look at me!!!1!" tendency teenagers usually have.

At first, I thought that mixing stripes and plaid was strange, but now... Well, yeah, it's still pretty strange.

Just a thought..
I think they pick out their favourite shirt, pants, shoes etc and wear it, irrespective to if they match or not.

This is actually a recent trend as seen by many home decorating shows and crap like Martha Stewart. My mom has a set of china that she has put together on her own from different estate sales and yard sales and the like that are all mismatched. Your friend is in high home decor fashion! lol
