TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — The Coast Guard Administration (CGA) 9th (Kinmen) Offshore Flotilla on Thursday (March 19) reported that its vessels were attacked by more than 10 Chinese speedboats, which hurled rocks, bottles and rammed the cutters. The CGA said the skirmish resulted in multi-task offshore patrol cutter CP-1022 suffering damage to two of three outboard motors after the Chinese speedboats rammed into it, reported Liberty Times. The CGA demanded that China track down the culprits, arrest them, and compensate Taiwan for the damages. At about 9 a.m. on March 16, as patrol cutters CP-1022 and CP-2006, along with three Taiwanese fishing boats, were driving off Chinese fishing vessels and removing illegal fishing nets, more than 10 unmarked Chinese speedboats rushed in and began hurling rocks and beer bottles at the CGA craft. During the skirmish, CP-1022, which had begun active duty on March 13 and cost NT$6 million (US$197,000) to build, was intentionally rammed from behind by the speedboats. Chinese speedboats (center and right), CGA cutter (second from left). (CGA photo) To fend off the Chinese speedboats, CGA officers hurled six stun grenades and fired five bean bag rounds at the Chinese crews, prompting them to beat a hasty retreat. One CGA officer was quoted by Liberty Times as saying, "We've never seen more than 10 Chinese speedboats swarm and aggressively attack like this." In the process, two outboard motors, valued at NT$600,000 each, were badly damaged and shards of broken bottles littered the cutter's deck. No CGA personnel were injured during the assault. Chen Chien-wen (陳建文), director of the CGA's 9th Offshore Flotilla in Kinmen, said the incident occurred on the median line in the Taiwan Strait, according to the report. Chen said that during the Wuhan coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, the CGA will not hesitate to drive away foreign intruders and protect Taiwan from the disease. The CGA shipped two new outboard motors from Kaohsiung to Kinmen to replace the damaged ones on CP-1022, reported Apple Daily. The cutter is expected to resume service on Monday (March 23), when it will continue to defend Taiwan's waters against illegal fishing and help protect Taiwan's borders from the spread of COVID-19. Posters at Zero are commenting COVID is smoke screen for many things, from the worst economic stats (worst than 1918-1919 recession) to the NWO as implementing ''stay in/lock-down'' order everywhere around the globe ... and replace cash/fiat with 100% electronic banking 'cause virus can be transmitted through the paper notes and coins ... except at BTC, he he. Taxman can't see Bitcoin transactions ...

Furthermore, smoke screen for limiting of "Our Constitutional Rights" in USA and similar.

I doubt, PLA would hit Taiwan in these pandemic circumstances ...

This skirmish looks to me like when two fishermen fight for the fish ... still swimming in the water ...

Coronavirus will be a smoke screen for many things to slip through the cracks unnoticed by governments, businesses and individuals. There will also be some things that wouldn't have been imaginable 3 months ago happening out in the open and no one will raise an eyebrow just as long as they have a few rolls of toilet paper hoarded under the bed.

Stiggs:

If they wanted to know how another country runs their health system I think all they'd have to do is ask and the other country would happily tell them, or just ask the Chinese students who study in foreign medical schools.

I reckon China sending health workers to help in other countries is just them doing what they can to help in the situation they started and maybe score a few PR points if possible.

Taiwan on 'high alert' after finding invasive armyworm in corn crop

JUNE 11, 2019 / 8:55 AM

TAIPEI (Reuters) - Taiwan is on “high alert” for further damage by the fall armyworm, said Premier Su Tseng-chang on Tuesday, after the island reported its first sighting of the invasive pest in a corn field.

“Please help us prevent it. The threat is greater than African swine fever,” he said, referring to the deadly disease spreading through Asia’s pig populations.

Coronavirus: US Commander stood down for ‘poor judgement’

Taiwan has reportedly scrambled its warships to monitor a Chinese aircraft carrier strike group, as the two US aircraft carriers in the region have been docked by the coronavirus.

China's first ever aircraft carrier, the Liaoning, led the group through the Miyako Strait near Japan, the South China Morning Post has reported.

The current location and destination of the carrier group is unknown, but Taiwan has sent its own vessels to monitor them.

Authorities urged the Taiwanese public to "be reassured" that reconnaissance was being carried out.

Exacerbating tensions in the region is the fact that the two US aircraft carriers in the western Pacific have been stricken with the deadly COVID-19 virus.

One, the USS Theodore Roosevelt, was recently embroiled in a controversy after its captain disclosed details about the virus situation about his vessel and was subsequently dismissed from his post.

It is currently docked in Guam.

The USS Ronald Reagan, meanwhile, is currently docked at a Japanese port after its crew were similarly afflicted.

China has denied reports that the crew of its other aircraft carrier, the Shandong, had been hit by the virus.

Taiwan's self-rule has long been disputed by Beijing, which regards the island as part of its territory.

OT: How's your face now?

https://www.zerohedge.com/geopolitical/watch-former-fda-head-says-chinas...

The former head of the FDA declared Sunday that China’s misinformation over the spread of the coronavirus needs to be investigated, while also noting that the World Heath Organisation validated Chinese lies in January, which ultimately doomed the globe into a pandemic.

China was not truthful with the world at the outset of this. Had they been more truthful with the world, which would have enabled them to be more truthful with themselves, they might have actually been able to contain this entirely.” Gottlieb noted.

“There is some growing evidence to suggest that, as late as January 20th, they were still saying that there was no human-to-human transmission, and the WHO was validating those claims on January 14th, sort of enabling the obfuscation from China.” he added.

It has been continually noted that the WHO was parroting Chinese claims into late January that the coronavirus was no threat to humans:

World Health Organization (WHO) ✔@WHO

Preliminary investigations conducted by the Chinese authorities have found no clear evidence of human-to-human transmission of the novel (2019-nCoV) identified in , ????????.

The former FDA head also noted that “China didn’t share the viral strains, and the WHO should have made them do that. Had they shared those early on we could have developed a diagnostic test earlier, validated [it] earlier.”

“I think going forward, the WHO needs to commit to an after-action report that specifically examines what China did or didn’t tell the world, and how that stymied the global response to this.” Gottlieb urged.

President Trump last week vowed to look “very carefully” into the inaction of both China and the WHO, saying that “They could have called it months earlier. They would have known, and they should have known, and they probably did know.”

China has also continued to disgustingly profit from the spread the killer virus.

Government officials in both the US and Britain have said that there will be a ‘reckoning’ for China when all is said and done.

A: In my personal experience, teaching certificates have varied in releva
A:In my personal experience, teaching certificates have varied in relevance depending on the context and location. Here's a breakdown of each aspect:a) Getting the teaching job: Teaching certificates can certainly enhance your chances of securing a teaching position, especially in formal educational settings such as schools and language institutions. Many employers prefer candidates who have undergone specific training in pedagogy and instructional techniques, which these certificates often provide. However, other factors such as experience, references, and the demand for teachers in a particular area also play significant roles in the hiring process.b) Getting a higher salary than your uncertified competitors: In some cases, holding a teaching certificate can indeed lead to a higher salary compared to uncertified competitors. Many educational institutions have structured salary scales that take into account factors such as level of education, years of experience, and additional certifications. Holding a teaching certificate may place you in a higher salary bracket or make you eligible for certain salary incentives or bonuses. However, this can vary widely depending on the specific policies of the institution or organization.c) Getting promotions: Teaching certificates can be beneficial for career advancement and securing promotions within the field of education. They demonstrate a commitment to professional development and mastery of teaching skills, which are qualities that many employers value when considering candidates for leadership positions or administrative roles. Additionally, some promotions may require specific certifications or qualifications, making holding a teaching certificate essential for advancement in certain cases.Regarding which certificate yields better results, it largely depends on the specific requirements of the job market and the educational context in which you intend to work. For example:A Postgraduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) is often highly regarded in formal school settings and can be advantageous for those seeking positions in primary or secondary education.Montessori certification is valuable for individuals interested in working in Montessori schools or implementing Montessori principles in their teaching approach.A Teaching English as a Foreign Language (TEFL) certificate is particularly relevant for those seeking to teach English to non-native speakers in international contexts or language schools.Ultimately, the best certificate for you will depend on your career goals, the specific requirements of the positions you're interested in, and the preferences of potential employers in your target job market. It's essential to research the requirements and preferences of employers in your desired field and tailor your qualifications accordingly. -- ruqaiya761
