Q: A decent vlog post

I've always thought vlogging was kind of silly, and cannot think of a single vlog that is consistently watchable, but Laowhy86 has a decent post explaining why his opinion of China changed. It is  similar to those 'Why I'm leaving China'  articles from  2012. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ed4ryYokLzU

For those of you who can't access it or can't be bothered watching, the key points are:

- Attitudes to Westerners, and particularly Americans are changing. There is less friendly curiosity and more suspicious hostility

- The economic development is less impressive when looked at up-close, eg the lift in his shiny new building had collapsed twice

- Freedoms are being eroded for everyone

- Poor policy had led to 'countless nurses being murdered' at his  local  hospital (wtf?!)

Do you agree with it?

A:Going to HK would be the best bet I reckon, especially if you were looking for a church wedding. Chinese weddings are pretty grim IMO - you go to a barren govt dept with souless officials and navigate red tape so some guy can give you a red stamp and a marriage book. You get expensive pictures taken of you both posing in places you'd never go to in everyday life that is somehow supposed to represent your wedding, then a while later it's off to a restaurant where a game show host kind of guy makes sure it's as tacky as possible while the guests eat as fast as they can so they can leave as soon as they finish eating and gave you money. Hell, I'd go to Thailand or the Philippines and get married in Paradise.   -- Stiggs
