I mainly got new (English teaching) jobs in China from here. I also used several good job recruiters and I got new offers that way, too.

The other (ET) jobs website is Dave's ESL Cafe, and if you'll Yahoo-gle "ESL job vacancies in China", you'll find more websites advertising ET job openings in China. You can replace 'ESL' with any job you're looking for ...

Many reasons why no replies from job advertisers ... Chinese borders remain closed as one. Nobody will hire you, if you can't enter China.

The other thing here is (was from 2009 - 2017), never stop sending your CV until you get an interview invitation ...

In my time, I usually spoke to at least two schools in the same time and then I picked and signed the best contract ..

Good luck!

icnif77:

Can you come to China for sightseeing and walk the doors of employers? No, you can't, because you have to secure an Entry visa first and without an employer, it's almost impossible to fulfil that task .

Beside that, you could maybe provide a better solution ... on top of bashing the website and stating the matters, which are impossible to prove.

Looking for a job (or jab .. surprise) was always very personal experience and I ain't shilling for the website.

I described the ways on how I was finding new positions in China.

Imagine yourself being stuck in Hong Kong 'cause your previous employer screwed-up yer valid Residence permit ... and then after some 20-days of HK's human congestion, you find new employer/RP sponsor from the Jobs here and after further 30-days of HK, you return to China with fresh RP and new 1-year contract.

I had two choices after exiting to HK: either get new position in China or return home/EU after 3-months HK's stay.

Applying for the new position from this website, saved me a lot of troubles and monies ... .

However, it might doesn't work the same now as it worked in my time, but I wouldn't act any different if I wanted to return to China, i.e. scan new openings and get few good placement agents ... from Jobs here.

It certainly reflects at new positions opening as English language lost an importance in China ... Remembering hiring before 2017 when almost every public school in China wanted to employ laowai English teacher. ..

Ohh well ... English teaching world is wide open for native English passport holders.

I was browsing jobs online a couple of days ago to see what's around and saw one in Ukraine, I had a look out of curiosity.

I'm pretty sure that among other quite high requirements being a native speaker was a must. Not sure how a country worried about being invaded by Russia soon can afford to be very picky about who you hire but there ya go... if you're a native speaker you could score yourself a job just in time to get murdered by the Russian army when they arrive.

It's the law of the land same as is in China or elsewhere. Native English passport holder is requirement for securing proper visa and legal work ...

Ukraine goes in the same basket as Russia, Armenia and Turkey, i.e. it's not worth to engage there ...

The other thingy of work at above mentioned countries is a business wise. Training mill will get a student, take her's/his monies, but manager of the mill won't be able to come and unlock the mill's doors at pre-arranged class time ... given by the same manager-ial help ... I quit right away as that happened in Krasnodar and moved to Turkey. Turks are much better in that regard, but pay for the foreign/native English teacher is still way too low.

IMO, one who aims at China should also look at near-by countries, i.e. S. Asia; Malaysia, Vietnam and more ...

I even applied and had contacts with employers in India, he he ... at the fresh days of pandemic, butT ... English teaching world is closed for the non-native Englishers. IMO.

These job portals I used for Malaysia, India and more ...

https://www.learn4good.com/jobs/language/english/list/teaching/malaysia/

... and 'Jora' is another one ... Malaysia:

https://my.jora.com/English-Teaching-jobs-in-Gugusan-Taib-Andak-Johor

ET vacancies @Jora for India:

https://in.jora.com/Teacher-jobs-in-Chinchvad-Mahārāshtra

TES International ...

https://www.tes.com/jobs/browse?siteCountry=gb&keywords=English%20Teacher&locations=International%3AAsia%3AMalaysia

You can get more job portals by searching for "ET job openings/vacancies in .. 'individual country', i.e. Taiwan, Thailand, Cambodia ...".

Many countries in S. Asia have their own ET job vacancies portals .., which won't show through the general search ..

ET vacancies worldwide are also advertised at 'glassdoor.com', 'indeed.com', 'jooble.org', 'worldteachers.net' ...

Good luck to all!

My experience with this website is that the recruiters post jobs, but when they contact you, they try to divert you to other jobs. Perhaps they recommend ones that they get a bigger commission or are difficult to fill.

It has also been my experience that they do not look at your CV very well. While I explain in my cover letter and CV the necessary things I am seeking, such as high school ages only, or Not a tier one city, they will contact me with any willy-nilly job posting they want.

If you are looking for a recruiter to work with, then this is a good starting place. Just hold to your guns about the things you are serious about and force them to find you what you are looking for.

Essentially, your best bet in finding a job is to get several recruiters working for you to find the perfect job, as the job postings are not as reliable for hooking a job.

Always remember that ESL teaching is a business working towards a profit, and having to pay other people (not you) their share of the pie. Even puiblic schools usually operate off this model. If a foreigner is working as an English teacher, it is most likely a business based model.

I would question the legitimacy of any of the advertisments that don't mention the correct Visa for a legal presence in the countrry.
